I was just wandering how long some of you were off work with your surgery? I am really hoping to go back after like 10 days...Is this doable?

it really depends on your post-op recovery and the nature of your job.

I had surgery on the 30th and am planning to go back on Tuesday the 13th.  But I am feeling pretty good now so I am sure I will be more than ready.

I went back to work after 10 days, I have an office job.  I do wish I had waited another week or so. I was very tired and it takes some work to remember to drink sips all day when your busy. But the tiredness was the worst. by afternoon I was worth nothing... I couldnt concentrate and felt myself falling asleep. By the next week, I was so much better. I should have waited another week at least.

It is doable but I don't suggest it unless you have to. There is always someone who will return to work in one week or so but, regardless of the type of work you do, you have to remember your body is going through several different changes. You have to adjust to the changes in hormones, recovery (keep in mind it is cold now and you don't want to have near open wounds in too cold temperatures), and the various stages of eating.

I would wait until you were at least on mushed foods and had a week of that to know what you can tolerate, what amounts make you vomit and what things you think you can eat and pack with you to work.

All in all, I would return at a minimum of three weeks, four or more if you can do it.

I had like the fastest recovery known to man, lol.  I swear, quick recovery.  I probably could have gone back to work in 10 days or maybe 2 weeks but planned to take the whole month off.  I'm really glad i did.  Gave me time to adjust, rest and just focus on all the important stuff.  I'd definately suggest taking as much time off as you can afford to.  Things were tight for me with my insurance short term disability checks but even squeezing through i wouldnt have changed a thing.  best of luck.

I will be 3 weeks out on Tuesday and i took 4 weeks off work. I could probably go back now, but instead I am going to take this next week to start an exercise program and really focus on what my weekly menu will look like. I spend so much time focusing on work...right now I am going to focus on me. I figure how often do I get a month off..uhhh..never!!  I would never eat breakfast, it the vending machines for snacks, have fast food for lunch or nothing and then come home starving and binge eat.  The goal is to develop new habits and go back prepared and organized.

I have a desk job and went back to work after a week. I expected to be tired in the afternoon but I think my lunchtime outdoor walk helped a lot with that. I had a completely complication free surgery and recovery so I don't think I'm the norm, but that's my experience.

I had my surgery on Nov 24th and I am going back to work tomorrow.  I am ready to start to resume my normal life again.  I find it harder to be home than to go to work.  I work in an office and I have a desk job.  I do have to get up and go to the printer frequently but that is a good thing.  I would have gone back last Thursday but I was still having trouble sleeping. Now I can sleep all night without pain so I am ready.
