I will be 11 weeks out from surgery tomorrow.
This week I have been tired everyday. I mean sitting in a meeting about to nod off tired. I take my vitamins regularly. I had lab work completed Jan 17th, anemic, doubled my iron per my surgeon.
I have been exercising 5-6 days a week for a month.
I daily eat- 700-800 calories, 65-80 protein, carbs under 40, usually 35, 80 ounces of water.
Any suggestions?

Are you taking a B-12 supplement?  If not, I would suggest starting one.  It could help with being tired.

I'll have to try a B-12 supplement. I take 2 B-50 complexes a day. I don't feel like I am getting sick. I am going to go to bed at 9 pm tonight, see if that helps.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I haven't yet had surgery but i know a person who had similar issues and she stopped taking the vitamins she was buying herself and ordered a customized kit for vsg patients from Bariatric Advantage and she slowly began to get her energy back...i'm planning to use BA from the beginning so i know i'm gettig what's tailored for my procedure.

I understand we need the sublingual B-12 because the cells that make the intrinsic factor which help us absorb the B-12 in our food were removed along with most of our stomachs.  B-12 sure seems to help a lot of people.

I was tired as hell for a couple of months.  I fell asleep at my desk two times - thank goodness after 5:00 pm!  Exercise actually helped, so you should be good there.  Might want to talk to the doc.  Good luck!

This is great advice.

For B12, you need the sublingual since it's mainly absorbed through stomach tissue.  You put the sublingual pill under your tongue, the B12 will enter your bloodstream through mucus tissue.

Could be anything though - your diet sounds great though.

Sleep issues are the number one cause of temporary fatigue (per my doc lol)

Im tired as all hell this week, and it comes and goes for me, even at 8 months out. All my labs re good, so i chalk it up to stress/poor sleep.

I wouldnt worry about it unless it goes on for a couple of weeks - just try and rest, maybe cut back at the gym for a bit.

the b 12 might help. ask your doc. meanwhile, its not unusual to feel sort of tired for a few months after any surgery. and make sure you get enough vitamin d in the winter months. I needed daily naps for a few month and was lucky to be able to do so.   i assume they wiill recheck the iron. have you had thyroid checked? diane
