I have been very bad. Not pre-surgery "bad", not outta control, but not so hot. Too many sweets. How do I get rid off the sugar cravings? I've really stepped in it, and I need help scraping it off my boot and moving forward.

What's been going on that triggered this for you? Get to the bottom of WHY you are doing it, and then maybe you'll see a solution.

I am an emotional eater - if I start eating stuff I shouldnt, I can usually link it to some kind of work stress or whatever, so then I know I just gotta get my crap together at work so I can stop stressing. I focus extra hard on making sure I have all my food prepared for the day and all my snacks available so I'm not tempted, and I dont get hungry and go off looking for food.

When Im trying to get rid of cravings, I usually chew a lot of gum or drink a lot of propel/powerade. Helps me.

Thanks. Since early Dec, I haven't really been talking to my Mom. Christmas was horrible. That's when it kind of blew up. But, I also know that "making up" and talking to her again will NOT fix anything. It will put me in a further downward spiral of sugar and shame.
I gotta get back to my protein shakes and dense protein, I know that much. As for my defective brain, who knows. Ungh.

I was a huge fan of sweets, but I trade them for fruit....I sprinkle some low sodium Tajin, ( chile powder mix for fruit, sold in latino markets, or even paprika would do to)  now is sour and spicy what I crave.                                                                       Sometines a little fruit topped with yogurt or cottage cheese and drizzle with some sugar free  syrup.                                                                                              I  wish you the best, good luck !!

Strange thing for me before surgery I rarely ate sweets in fact only birthdays special occasions now for some reason after surgery I crave sugar almost like a smoker that smokes after eating I feel like I have to have a small piece of candy after every time I eat and guess what I was for the past two years I have been doing that not going over board just a lil and I have been maintaining fine BUT.... Notice that is caps I know it is bad and afraid it could get out of control so I have attempted to give it up I went on a protein shake only for three days hoping to cleanse a lil then I gave up candy for lent really wanted to give up all sugar but thought one thing at a time so far it has been 8 days and I have had no candy I did however have two girl scout cookies it is definitely hard a struggle I feel like a drug addict that is what sugar is but I'm gonna keep trying I figure the longer I go without the easier it will get best if luck to you I'm pulling for you

It's funny how our tastes change after surgery. I used to like just pretty much chocolate and raspberry before. Now I crave lemon desserts! Weird! Thanks for the support!

I am right there with you, had a few days of indulging in a bit of sugar and the cravings never stop. What I do and have done is put myself on a liquid protein fast. Kind of like after surgery, I do 2 - 3 days of this and it usually cures the cravings which are of course in my head and not my tummy. I find the liquids help purge my body of the sugar demon and put ME back in control. Good luck you can do it!
Here is something someone said and I wrote it down because it's my story, maybe it will help you.

When I eat sugar, my crazt carb monster wakes up and just wants more, and more and more! I believe that processed foods have some crazy chemical reactions in some of us that makes us return to that addict-like state.

I am a sugar addict, and for me I need to recognize the signs. I can have something small but that's it. If I give in to it I return to my old ways. It's really scary how quickly it comes right back. So that's why I do the liquids, it helps me be in control. Give it a try, I bet you will be surprised how well it works. Of course, I keep myself really busy the first 2 days because the brain is always saying sugar, sugar, sugar!!!!! Good luck, hope this helps a little.

Helps a lot! This AM I started out with a premier protein shake and so far, no cravings. I may have a harmless tillapia oven fillet for lunch, though. Too much liquid protein gives me a weird tummyache. But starting out the AM with the shake does go a long way to getting back on track though. Thanks for the response. Not many people have responded, and I appreiate the support! Congrats on your progress. It's motivational!
