Visitors after surgery?

I had some complications and ended up staying in for 5 nights... my mom came each day and my dad came along once or twice, but they didn't stay very long... I'm not real needy like that... I"m probably too independednt.

I didn't want my daughter to see me there... we chatted on the phone... she was 4 at the time.

Once of my friends had the RNY and they kept her 3 days... I went to visit and we had a fun 3 hour chat... so I guess it can go either way?

I had my surgery first thing in the morning so by the evening I was still drugged but okay for a couple of visitors.  My boss and his wife came but that was it.  I didn't want a ton of people coming by because I'd feel like I had to entertain them and I REALLY didn't feel like it.  You will feel more like visitors when you get home.

I forbid anyone to come visit me, it was only going to be a little over 24 hours in the hospital and I didn't want anyone bugging me LOL I did nothing but sleep and walk and sip. It was easier to do all that stuff without my family and friends getting in the way.

I was in two nights, visitors were fine after the first night. The day of surgery was only my fiance and my mother. After that I was bored to tears so visitors would have been welcome.

Thanks for all your responses. Knowing how I felt years ago after my hysterectomy I didn't think visitors were a good idea. Five days of liquid down, five to go!!!

I wanted family only after surgery – I knew I wouldn’t be up for visitors…plus going in right before Christmas, people had other things to keep them occupied. My parents sat with me in the hospital all day, all three days I was in, even though I slept most of the first two.

If your friends really want to visit, depending on how long you’ll be there, make a plan that you’ll call/text them when you feel up to visitors, maybe? They could possibly be your walking buddies too – a couple of laps of the floor with each friend. That could help pass the time! Good luck!
