I was just curious what is the latest time that most of you stop eating for the day. ( for examples do you stop eating at 8 olock) or do you not have a cut off time. also what made you choose that time ?

Hi,

I used to have the most problems controlling my eating in the evenings, so I shifted my meal times with Breakfast at 10AM, Lunch at about 3pm and dinner at  8pm.  That way I don't have a lot of time in the evening after dinner to snack.  It works for me, particularly because I'm never hungry in the mornings, anyway.

I need a cut-off time, otherwise I can get acid break-through at night and that's no fun.  I make sure that dinner is no later than 7:00 p.m. (earlier most nights) and that I stop drinking water by 8:00 p.m.

my evening snack is usually pretty minor, half a quest bar or somethign like that.  I dont have any stirct rules, but it's usually at 9pm or so and i'm asleep at 1130 or 12.   I usually have a short 20-25 walk before or after my snack so i dont really worry about any evil blood sugar going to fat over night.  But really, that small amount of food isnt going to amount to anything anyway.  plus i wake up in the morning in no rush to eat this way ... makes my day easier.

I am hungrier at night. I dont have a cut off time. I have a calorie limit and dont exceed that number. Your body doesnt know what time you are eatting...it just knows how many calories you are getting. Most "diets" have an 8 pm rule. It is because of the food choices we tend to make at night arent good. If you are eating "on plan" ... And are within your calorie limits...you can eat up until bedtime. I kind of "bank" my calories for later eating. I am less hungy in the morning and early afternoon. I eat over 1/2 of my calories for the day after 5 pm. This is what has wored for me. Im 17 months out and at goal but basically ate the same way while losing.

Shifted from a b/l/d pattern to every four hours starting at 8a. So my last meal is at 8p. That worked better for keeping between meal hunger down. Did this shortly after going to solids.

I usually have my small evening snack around 8pm and then do water for the rest of the night.

I eat 5x's a day......every three hours.  Breakfast is usually at 9am and my last snack of the day is at 9pm. My 9pm meal is usually Unjury Chicken Soup.....the warm, saltyness seems to stay with me and make me feel satisfied for the rest of the evening.   I'm two months out so this may change at some point and time but this works for me now.  I only eat about 500 cals. a day at the moment so these "meals" are small.

In looking at my logs, I am eating 60-200 calories at each sitting roughly every 2-3 hours.

A typical workday might be a crustless quiche eaten on the way to work for 117 calories.

A midmorning snack about 1030 am is a 60 cal cheese stick.

Lunch may be 200 cals of chicken, whether as a chicken salad I made/brought, or grilled on top of a green salad. Because of my schedule lately, lunch has been falling about 1pm.

Midafternoon, around 4pm, might bring me a 90 cal greek yogurt.

Dinner, usually between 7-8 pm, is generally a subset of whatever the family is having, again around 200 calories focusing on protein.

Then, i have an evening snack, which may be a shake if i am behind on my protein, or yogurt/cottage cheese. General range here may be 100-200 calories. This might be around 9, depending on what time dinner was.

It's been very doable. General total calorie range is in the 600-800 range pretty easily. The linchpin for calories it totally driven by fat, eg if i have meatballs with tomato sauce, which i adore, the fat content spikes the total calories for that meal and the day.

Oh and water, water, water in between. My "4 (bottles) before 5 (pm)" has been working extremely well. It is easy to get another bottle or two in during the evenings. I generally find my commute home is a good way to suck down one bottle.

I stop eating when i have gotten my protein in, and I try to be in bed in the 10pm hour. I do think the liquids are really helping with satiety, as well.
