Ate too fast and too much :(

It's my own fault but at a family dinner I had a meatball w/ sauce. Barely got 3/4th of it in and just didn't pay attention to how quickly I ate. Frustrated with myself! 4 weeks post-op and starting to learn my limits. Ugh!!

Yep, right there  with you.  I have to concentrate on eating slow.

I have a saying and the polite version of it is "After you take a c$#*, flu**** and get up".  Basically it's means what's done is done, now move on.  You forgot yourself for a few minutes, and now you know to be more mindful.

Now when you sit down to eat, you can tell yourself to "remember the meatball" as your mantra, lol.

It's a lesson you'll learn over and over..

I'm a year out and still eat too fast at times!

It takes a while, but it does get easier. Good luck :)

(to all of you) What are you finding is to fast? a minute between bites? 2 minutes? Does the time between bites change depending on what type of food it is, or how well you chew your food?

For me it's really a function of chewing well enough.  So far, "too fast" for me means that I've swallowed bits that are to big.

Learning to eat slowly has been a challenge for me! Especially when it's a food I really like!
