I was a little overambitious today (or more accurately very underprepared). I went out for a bike ride midday. It was hot and sunny. I don't have a water bottle holder on my bike, because I've never needed one, since I don't generally go very far. But today I was going farther out than I've attempted and I really thought the park that was the turn-around point had a water fountain. Nooooope. It took me an hour to get there, and two hours to get home because I had to stop about 10 times. At one point a very nice cyclist realized I was in bad shape and offered me his water, for which I was grateful. I also managed to find a couple spots that had water fountains, but at that point the damage was done. I really thought I would pass out at a couple of points.
I feel ok now and I've had plenty of water since I managed to drag myself home, but this was a big lesson learned. Hydration is key!!
