Thanks for all your replies. I don't want us to get bogged down in the numbers but I can clarify a bit.
Right now, I'm on 900 calories/day on average during my lose phase. About 75g carbs and 60g protein on average each day.
Regardless of how many calories I'm actually burning during my workout, I've been eating 300-500 extra calories per day. I'm not using my workout as an excuse to eat more. I am legitimately hungry. Like, RAVENOUS. It's not emotional eating or boredom eating, or head hunger. It's stomach cramping, tummy gurgling, I will eat your face hungry. Normal foods on my meal plan are satisfying, although I absolutely crave more carbs.
So, someone suggested increasing protein. I do a bit of Intermittent Fasting and on swim days, I don't eat before heading for the pool.
Try to eat before? Eat high protein after?

Yes! Please keep me posted! Don't stress yourself out! You'll do fine!
I am still a week away from surgery... so, at this point, I'm feeling anxious. I'm glad to hear that your experience has been a good one. A loss of 17 pounds is fantastic in such a short time period! I know what you are saying about the protein shakes. They generally suck! I like Carnation Instant Breakfast Light Start and Bolthouse Farms Protein Plus Vanilla Bean shakes the best, but both have less protein (16 vs. 30) and approximately the same amount of calories. I've been drinking Premier Protein oreo flavor. It's tolerable. I'll let you know how I do. I hope your success continues!
I apologize for using the word judgemental, that was wrong of me and I have edited it out. I know we are all just trying our best to help people out.

I think your post is well worded but I skimmed through the other posts and could agree with all of them too, oy vey... I wish that tone and intent could be easily assessed online because I really feel that on OH most posters who take the time to respond are trying to be not only helpful, but honest from their experience and sometimes honestly isn't flowery. Yet I realize this issue is complicated. While it is possible to eat around any WLS, I feel like at 6 months it is likely a plateau and normal but I am only speaking from my experience and it could be so many other things that others have also mentioned. I hope the OP stays around OH and can learn from others and find the support in a way that inspires continued weight loss and personal growth.

Amazing transformation
