Glad to hear you're looking into working out. I swear by it and I think it's the key to success. I do the Body Pump class at the Y. VERY good. Works all major muscle groups. You will need to start with some cardio to for fat burning. 30-45 mins. for starters. Mix it up, Bike, treadmill, eliptical etc... But try to do at least 30 mins. straight.
I had a personal trainer and that really helped me get started. Water aerobics is also good. I started this 2 weeks post op and continued for about a month then moved into the " Big Gym " area with all the fit people. : )
Good Luck. Wish we lived closer.

Where do you work out? I know there are quite a few WLS people at Ballys where I go. So many places to choose from now for working out. Some are pricey but the Y and Bally's have tried to keep prices low.
I Love my workouts. If you ever need a cheerleader I'm pretty good with all the machines, cardio etc... Let me know where you go. Good Luck. I'm sure you're doing great. You young one's always do : )

Hi and welcome again : )
I had you on my Buddy list from way back.
Dr. Chua did my RNY 10/15/07 I've lost 115 lbs. Feel great! He is super. Please remember the surgery alone will not make you thin nor keep you thin and healthy. If you don't attend a support group and exercise weekely you will fail. It happens all the time. So prepared for a total lifestyle change. The surgery alone without all the components will not make you thin.
I work out 4 X's a week Min. and have been able to maintain my weight. I've stopped losing but weigh a healthy 133 lbs and wear a size 6.
Feel free to call or e-mail anytime. If you need a support person, someone to talk to, answer questions pre or post op give me a call. I work at Sinai and can stop by day of surgery if you'd like. Good Luck! Hang in there and be ready to change your life!!

Hi there, I did not have Dr. Chua so I dont know anything about him. I just wanted to wish you luck and say if you ever want to chat or hang out or have a workout or walking partner I am up for it. I had surgery almost 2years ago and even though others feel I am a sucess- I know the truth. I am not. I should of done much better, and am now looking to kick my butt in gear and over this next year to shed the weight and take my life and health back. I had spine surgery almost a year ago and it really set me back- I was confine to bed for long time and house for about 6mo. still have struggles physically so... I got very depressed and let my eating/excersise go to hell. I gained some weight back and really need to get moving again.
I hope this is not freaking you out, I am most likely telling you way too much. I guess I am just really hoping to make some connections with people out in the area and find a work out partner and maybe some friends who can relate to things- ie WLS surgery.
Well good luck, hope to hear back from you. You can email me at: [email protected]

Topic: workout groups or buddy?
Anyone here pre op or post op looking for someone to work out with? I am new to it and will be a slow starter as I must be careful after surgery. I would love to join a group of post ops in a workout class or get a buddy to go to the gym with or take some classes.
I see there are tons of great classes for free at YMCA?
Any ideas or suggestions? I live in Ozaukee area- could go walking together?

Topic: Online support group meetings?
Are there any online support groups or meetings in a chat room or anything? I work second shift so I miss all the meetings for CSM, Froedert, Aurora. Anyone know of any
Or are there any Post ops who have been successful who would be willing to chat on AIM or Yahoo once in a while? I am post op but had surgerys after and have not been able to lose the weight like I wanted and had issues after my last surgery. I would love to ask advise and listen to others success and issues so we can help eachother.
Thanks
