Has anyone tried those expensive over-the-counter teeth whitening strips?  I am going to be looking for a job (after being retired for three years) and really, really need to get my teeth looking better.  I don't have the money to do it professionally.  Any ideas? Kathy

My co-worker used the crest premium white strips and her teeth look great.  I went and got them and dont see a difference.  I dont drink coffee or tea, smoke, or have caffeine so my teeth are even badly stained.  I was very disappointed after spending $32.

I should of read my post before I sent it.  I meant to say my teeth arent badly stained.

They used to have a money back guarantee on those. But, anyway I have seen the light thing that you use for $20 at some stores. They used them on our local news, they have a try it before you buy it segment and both people were happy with it.

Kathy, I used the original Crest strips when they first came out.  I've been on insulin and many other meds for years, but insulin especially makes your teeth yellow.  I was amazed how well they worked.  I really want to try the newer ones that are supposed to last much longer, but they're just so expensive.  I always watch for sales at the CVS or Brooks and use the $5.00 coupons that are in the papers alot. Crest Whitstrips Premium Plus 10 Day worked WONDERFUL for me... and here is a tip - if your teeth are extra stained - keep your reciept and box and you can send it to them and they will send you a second supply free.  They are very good.

Thanks for the tip.  That won't make the expense quite as much.  I do have a coupon so it will save me a little bit.  My teeth are just so yellow and I don't smile much because of it.  I would like to get them looking better before I go on any job interviews. Kathy

Hi Kathy, I'm also a Dr. Rodriguez patient!  Anyway, I used Crest White Strips and they worked GREAT.  I had one tooth that was particularly stained.  One thing I did that I really believed helped: once the 30 minute time period was up for leaving the strip on, I took the strip off and brushed my teeth with just a wet toothbrush, brushing in the bleach.  I like to think it made a difference. Thanks for the tip!  I'm going to go get some tomorrow and see how it will work for me.  I do have two teeth that were bonded 25 years ago and have turned nasty and they will not change, though.  But, at least the others will look nice.  I'll have to see a dentist to get those rebonded.  I think my dental insurance will pay for that. Don't you just love Dr. Rodriguez!  I have an appointment next Friday to see him again (2 year checkup).  I think we picked the best in the area. Kathy

I use the Rembrandt whitening strips, getting them at Target for about $20.  They really work well.  I had trays made by my dentist, spending over $300 and that system didn't work nearly as well as the Rembrandt strips do for me.  I do the strips every other night and my teeth are almost toilet bowl white :-)
