Does milk count as water intake?

I have suddenly been able to tolerate milk after thinking i was lactose intoloerant.  I love the protein it has and I could drink it all day but does it count towards my "water" intake for the day also? Thanks

Yes, at least on my program it would. Don't think of it as water intake think  of it as fluid intake. However you don't want to get all of your fluids through milk because it does have calories. I would not drink more than 24oz of milk per day if I was you. HTH.

I guess this is one of the things you will have to ask your nut about, because in my program, it is considered a protein, and not liquid intake.  So, I have to find my liquid elsewhere.

Depends on what your professionals say.  There was a post on the diet and nut board in the past few days about what counts and what doesn't and why.  The licensed dieticians there had a great reply.  Go check it out.  I know for me that if I count it toward the protein requirement, I can't count it toward my fluid requirement.

I absolutly count is as "water" - in my book any fluids that don't contain caffien - (coffee or tea) is liquid, and that's how I get my protein in!!!

My bariatric coordinator, says no milk-ever.   It is liquid sugar and they say your body doesn't need it after the age of 3.  I don't know if I agree completely, but that is their word on it.

Humans are the only animals that continue to drink milk after they are weaned!  Possibly, we should credit the American Dairy Council's ads.  My surgeon has taken all her patients off of protein drinks.  Thus, no more milk.  We still get dairy in...cottage cheese, cheeses, etc.

I don't really "drink" milk.  I use it in cereal maybe once a week.  I may add it to a recipe, but I can not remember the last time I poured any in a cup other than a measuring cup!  LOL  But, my doc does not have any rules against it.  He says his only complaint with milk is the hormones.  I could count it as liquids if I drank it though.  I CHOOSE not to count anything but clear liquids.  And, as I drink 96+ ozs per day, that is not an issue anyway... Please remember (I know you do!) that it is protein and it IS calories...  I don't worry about the carbs in milk as they are healthy carbs even though they are sugars.  I can handle about 15 grams of sugars in a meal, so no issues there...
