Thick Saliva after eating too much
I know this is gross...but...
Has anyone ever experienced a really thick amount of saliva that comes out if food gets stuck? I had this happen a few times...I would go to the toilet to try to unclog myself...only to find that lots of saliva comes out and it is really thick.
Sorry if I turned anyone off...just curious.

We DSers can actually have something similar happen if we eat too much or too fast, so that our sleeves don't clear the food out before more comes in .
It's basically the saliva backing up from the sleeve into our throats and rising into our mouths ... I've had that happen at a restaurant before and in my earlier post-op days I used to rush to the restroom sink to try to spit out some of it whenever that happened ..
Of late I just take a water glass and discretely (as much as possible) spit it up into it, like a chewer of chewing tobacco It can also cause our noses to run and eyes to tear, if bad enough (apparently a nerve reaction)
(hmmm we need to come up with a cute name for OUR version, me thinks)

"We" DSers?
You are the only person with a DS that I have ever read about having this problem after the healing period is over.

No, I'm not some unique case out there, unfortunately .. this unpleasant experience has been mentioned in our local support group meetings, on our Dr. A. forums, and even on the OH DS forum (although it has been awhile) .. Our sleeves are only 15% the size of a normal stomach. Hence if you try to eat more than 15% of the amount you used to be able to hold as a pre-op, esp. w/o taking a slow time doing so, things quickly back up and bad stuff happens. I find I'm much more prone to have this happen under cir****tances where I "forget" my DS at the time, such as when eating while ravenous or eating with others (non-WLSers) and trying to keep up with them, such as at a biz lunch.
Try eating something dense fast, like pieces of beef, while also drinking liquids, and see what develops Just be near a sink (or empty glass) when you do.
