In Canada the normal levels are 76-250.  I am not sure if the values are the same in the States.  I started preop at 44 and with one a week of the 50,000iu units of the perscription D I was at 193 last week.  Lots of ppl here say that the perscription D is not good because it is oil based and we dont absorb oil as well as preop.  This concerns me and I am watching my numbers very closely.  I have blood sent again in 3 mos.  I think we all malabsorb at different rates, so be careful until you know how it affects you.  You can order dry viatamin d (not in oil) from vitalady.com.  Lots of luck.  Hope your problem resolves quickly!

Mine is 19.

You need 50,000 IU dry Vitamin D.

Hi MM....I just received my D3-50 today. How many do you take a day? The bottle says serving size is 1 capsule. My level is at 15 currently. Thanks for the info.

Hi There,
I am currently being treated for low level vit D myself. my blood work came back with a 17 level and I was place on presription strenght Vit D which is 50,000 units. This is my 4 round of prescription strength D and my Vit D level is at 30 which according to my doctor maybe the norm for a gastric bypass patient. although the optimal level is 60 it may not be within reach for us gbp folks however I am happy that my level has increased and I feel much better.
I was feeling pretty crappy prior to that. I suffered from a lot of bone pain and ache but now that I am in treatment I feel great. Please talk to you doctor about any concerns. I wish you much success and health on you journey.
