Bariatric Gift Basket - Mother's Day

Hi - I am not a frequent poster, but I was hoping my future gastric bypassers can help me out.  I had my gastric bypass surgery about one year ago and it was very successful.  My mother is now trying to be approved so she can have the surgery.  Anyhow, for the Mother's Day I am trying to put together a gift basket for her of all my essentials (not food items).  These are all the items I couldn't live without when I had my surgery.  So far, I have put together a list of recipes I often use, I was going to get her small bowls and spoons (especially handy the first 6 months post op), an eletronic scale and mini muffin pan.  Anyone have more ideas for me to put in my gift basket? Thanks so much - Selena

I used a sippy cup at first - it helped me to drink slower. You can get her the pan that makes the mini donuts that egg face uses.  I just recently bought a shaker bottle for mixing protein drinks on the run.  I also have a stainless steel water bottle -

That is a terrific idea!!!

single serving size blender (less than $20 at target). WLS for dummies. A post-op cookbook (I have eating well after weight loss surgery). Various flavorings/extracts to add to protein drinks (I use fruit extracts such as orange and strawberry as well as generic crystal light packets).  Individual cards (cut them into cute shapes, maybe) with tips or coupons good for a back rub, foot massage, vacuuming the house or whatever).

What a nice thoughtful idea. I am sure she will love it.

Little plastic 4oz bowls, I think ziploc makes them. They are great for easy measuring. Also some health food stores sell single use trial sizes of protein mixes. Maybe some bio-oil or mederma for scar use later on. Baby wipes to take to the hospital to freshen up.

A heating pad & Tylenol, I didn't have either and I was happy to have someone give them to me post op. I used the heating pad to help with gas pain and the Tylenol replaced the Advil that I took prior to surgery. I also used a small pillow post op, like a travel size one and maybe some new slippers or crocs to use to walk around the hospital.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day

A friend of mine has had RNY.  I am waiting.  She told me she used a small tea set to drink from and eat off of when she first had surgery.  She suggested I purchase one for me.  You can find them at all price levels and decorations.  You can go from a kids set to a china set.  All up to your budget.
