What did you eat on your last day before liquids?

Why do people feel like they have to go on a feeding frenzy just before surgery? I can only answer for myself but I've worked too long and too hard to lose this pre-op weight to jepardize the surgery by pigging out! In the 6 mo duration of this diet I have been slowly cleansing my body of the fats and carbs that used to make up the vast majority of my diet. So before I have to start the last cleansing in preparation for surgery I'm going to flood my system with those nasty things I worked hard to rid my body of? I don't think so. It's not like we're going to the gas chamber, never to eat again! I realize it may be a couple of years but I know at some point in the not too distant future I WILL be able to taste chicken fried steak and cream gravy again. I can honestly say I don't crave those things any more. What I crave is the sense of satisfaction I used to get, but not the painful over-stuffing and guilty regret for eating 'the whole thing' in the first place. Every time I've eaten an old favorite, hoping to satisfy that urge, I've been extremely disappointed in the experience.

So maybe I'm just the strange one.....

excuse me but-- i thought the reason behind a pre-op liquid diet was to help shrink the liver so there is less complications???
At first, I thought it was unneccessary for me to be on Medi-Fast for 3 1/2 wks. but now i'm kinda happy about it. strange huh-
Not only does it show the surgeon that i will do my best to be compliant following surgery- I'm proving it to MYSELF that I don't have to have those things that were such an integral part of my OVERWEIGHT- (morbidly obese) life.
It is my hope that after these MediFast weeks have gone by & I have had my surgery- I will look forward to my pureed foods and continue to make good progress.

Isn't that what all of us really want? a helpful surgery- with as few complications as possible - as we head to a long and healthy post surgery life.

I didn't have to do the liquids before surgery.  The last day I had yogurt and fruit for breakfast, skipped lunch, had salmon ceasar salad for dinner, along with a couple of bites of marionberry cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  It was great!

I went to a  local restaurant called Kabuki, It is a Japanese restaurant where the chefs cook in front of you as well as entertain. I had steak, chicken, rice, salad, soup, and long island ice tea. It was delicious!!!!
