Open the can or unscrew the lid and let it sit for awhile!  It will eventually go flat.

Pouring it into a glass and stirring it some at first will speed it up a little. But you pretty much just have to let it set uncovered for a while.

NOPE!!

Answer is actually too simple for words...

Add a TUMS tablet to the bottom of the glass.

I just tried it with this Diet Pepsi I got... and was astonished how fast it took out the gas, and it left NO aftertaste. I was OMG!!! I must spread this amongst my peoples!!! Lmao

Try it...

Maybe add some ice and let it sit for a little bit.

When did you have surgery?  You know, carbonation is not bad for you (the other ingredients may well be, however!). Especially in a new post-op it can make your pouch very uncomfortable, but the gas bubbles are absolutely not strong enough to stretch your pouch or do harm. They dissipate, the pain goes away, no harm. Sure, some docs/nuts say no soda, ever, and I would not recommend going against their rules, but if it's an arbitrary choice, the carbonation is not the problem.  Personalyl, I don't drink any soda but I think the contradicting science and myths behind carbonation and WLS are interesting.

I am so glad you posted your thoughts Ann.

I will wait at least a year but I love carbonated seltzer water, diet sodas, champagne and beer... I find myself craving a simple Calistoga Sparkling Water at times!

Everyone has a different experience, but I would stay away from anything fizzy.  The point of having a band or restricted pouch is to keep that pouch small and NOT stretch it.  For me, a few sips of anything fizzy and I have pressure and some pain and quite frankly, it's not worth the pain, nor the chance of ruining my surgery.

I've always wondered what the point of drinking pop is if it's going to be flat. It has never really made sense to me. I'd rather not have it at all.
