You really need to try and stay positive.  You have been regretting the surgery since the moment you got it from your previous posts.  16lbs is ok, the first month the body is healing itself.   Being down on yourself is not going to help you.  Try to see the positives in the 16lbs you lost rather than the negative.  If you keep being negative, things aren't going to work out so well for you.  Like others have said, when was the last time you lost 16lbs on your own in a month?  You should stop telling yourself, "if I knew this this and this would happen, I wouldn't have gotten the surgery". I have read several of your posts that say that.   Remember why you got the surgery in the first place.... this isn't a marathon.  I can understand the frustation, I am in a stall myself, but I would never keep telling myself that.  Be grateful for the tool you and and just keep working at it.  I will have had 3 surgeries in the last 5 weeks (including one I have to have in 2 days) because of my RNY and I still can't ever regret what I have done, even with the complications.

Stick to your plan, and it will work!

i'm losing a lot slower than I expected

on 9/22 my scale showed me at 253
today my scale showed me a 229.8  so only down about 23 pounds in nearly 2 months...

my stupid MALE YOUNGER husband lost 21 pounds in his first week... idiot man....

I feel your pain... but really what are our options... we just gotta keep doing what we are supposed to be doing...

The one of the most frustrating times in WLS is the few months immediately after your surgery.  You see others loose weight faster and think, what is wrong with me????  It is so typical to want the weight to be gone YESTERDAY so you can get on with your new life, but always remember, this is not a race, but a journey.  Relax, work your tool, and enjoy the process.  As long as you do all the things you should, it will come off and before you know it, you will be down 100+ lbs and in a much smaller size!  You will look back and think, WOW!  look what I have accomplished.  You are doing GREAT!!  Hang in there and use the boards for support when you feel down or anxious.

16 pounds in a month is great.  I am slowly learning that it is a mistake for me to think that there is a "deadline" or some kind of "end date" to this process.  Taking vitamins and eating right and exercising is something I will do for the rest of my life. It won't stop when I reach my goal. So I'll just try to enjoy the journey one day at a time. Good Luck.

Only???  This is the very reason why my nut wants me to stop reading and participating with OH.  She feels that its too much comparison and people don't see how everybody's is different.  Sixteen pounds in one month is great!  The one thing I've learned through OH is that everybody lose at a different rate.  Mine is crazy (but I accept it).  I won't lose for 2 to 3 weeks then all of a sudden...BAM!  I lose like 4 pounds, then maybe 2 and then nothing.  It comes off in cycles.  It also depends whats going on with my body, hormones, etc.
Please, be happy with whatever you lose and however your body lose it.
And as far as my nut....she is a nut if she thinks that this site will screw with my head.  It's one of the only support I rec'd to help me through this process (even your post has helped me).
Hang in there.

I appreciate the comments. It's just hard. But, its true...what can we really do about it. Today I am only eating low carb. I think that may help. I am glad to be losing. True. But, I had a major operation. I just expected, hoped~ for more.

what do you  mean today you are eating low carb?

I'm 7 weeks out tomorrow and every day is low carb...

how are you eating?

my day usually

breakfast is protein shake sometimes with milk
lunch is protein and veggie or fruit
snack if i have one is protein
dinner is protein and veggie

that's it....  maybe a tiny sweet potato once a week or so... but no real carbs...

so what do you mean by low carb?

Well, my doc plan calls for soft foods like cream of wheat, applesauce, shakes. You know softer things. I can now start having more dense stuff and have done well with eggs and some ground meats. I am just saying, I am going to try and eat much, much lower carb than I have been. Most soft stuff is probably too high in carbs. Although with the tiny, tiny portion I can have its strange that Im not simply melting.

Its true, this has been a struggle for me from the beginning. Things have been harder for me that I expected. To those who find me to be a whiner, too negative, whatever. Do us both a favor and skip by my posts all together. You are not helping. When people struggle, its support they need not ridicule. If you cant give it. That's cool. So, just walk on by.

To the supportive people here. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You have helped me so much and I know helped others as well. I appreciate your time, advice and friendship. Just know, you make a difference....in a good way. Thank you for using your time and words for good. (((hug)))

Support is telling you to stop being negative.  Hello!!!  Find something positive to tell yourself for once.  It's a struggle, but staying positive is the only way to get through it.  I know struggle, I have had a worse time of it in the past month (real complication after complication), and I know to stay positive and it has helped me tremendously.

It may not be what you want to hear, but it's whats best for you to hear.  Ok, I will take my positive reinforcement away since telling you that you are being negative is bad.  I have watched your progress and your posts since you had surgery close to mine, and I've seen what you have posted and I have felt sorry for you that you feel this way about the surgery.  Just thought I could help!
