Ok, today is my 1 month milestone and I only lost 16 pounds!!! I am sooo disappointed. If I had known it would be like this for me there is NO way I would have had surgery.

This sucks. I see others on here lose 25, even 38 pounds the first month. I don't get it and I'm very upset.

are you kidding me?!  16 lbs is amazing!  Everyone is different, you cannot compare yourself to others- everyone is different.  Just be happy its coming off.  Could you have lost 16 lbs by yourself in one month????  Probably not... don't for one second regret this surgery.  It's early and you have the rest of your life ahead of you.  Stop moping around and get out of your slump feeling sorry for yourself and do some more work, make sure you're getting your protein and water and it will come off- sometimes more than others...  don't give up.  I'm sorry i'm not a b**ch, I may be coming across as it, but it just makes me so frustrated when people whine about losing anything... YOU LOST IT... IT'S GONE FOREVER... BE HAPPY!

When was the last time you  lost 16 pounds in a month? Do not compair yourself to others, we all lose at a different amount. There are lots of factors in these "I've lost x-nuber of pounds". Give it a little time.

Why in the world are you disappointed? Prior to surgery, have you ever lost 16 lbs in a month or even two months?

Relax. You're doing great.

Never compare yourself to someone else because everyone's different.

As long as the scale is moving in the right direction, BE HAPPY!

16lbs is phenomenal in my opinion! Be grateful the scale is moving in the right direction, take your measurements as well.  The number of pounds is just a number... what matters is that your health improves. Hang in there.

shhhhh It's gonna be ok!  haha  I too have been a slow loser, but I have lost a lot of weight and it's gone for good....  I do have a story though.  I have a neighbor who too had the surgery, had it just a few months ago and has lost waaaaaay more weight than I have.  Well, I heard from one of her friends that *Stacy* has actually been starving herself on PURPOSE to lose the weight faster...soooo she has lost the weight, but has done it wrong and I consider what she is doing an abuse and it will bite her back in the end.  I have been doing what I am supposed to, sure, it's been a bit slow...but it's gone for good and I have learned new eating habits....rather than intentionally starved myself.

Good Luck!

A lot of the rate of loss depends on how much you lost prior to surgery and how much you actually have to lose. If you are 100 lbs. or less overweight, you are  a "lightweight" and will lose at a slower rate than someone who is much heavier. The surgery is a tool, not a magic ticket to weight loss. Keep doing everything right, and even if you only lose 10 lbs. a month, in one year that is 120 lbs! Kepp plugging along-it will be worth it in the end, you'll see.

I am not a lightweight, I still have 139 to lose. I am concerned that this will mean I will be one of the people who never get to goal.

I have been told the first 6 months says everything and its the best opportunity we have. I just expected more. I have so much to lose.

Some people start out slow and then pick up the pace. Others start out fast and then slow down. And still others lose fast for a few months, slow down for a few months, lose fast again for a month, etc. Everyone's different, and as long as you aren't gaining, I'd say you're doing just fine.
