I am about 24 pounds away from my surgeon's goal for me.  I'm very happy with the progress I've made since my surgery, but I'm realizing that from a size perspective, I'm not going to get much smaller.  I might drop another 2 sizes when it's all said and done.

I started out in a size 30/32, and now wear about a 16 (depending on the brand and cut).  In some things, I can wear a 14 and I even have one size 12/14 dress in my closet that I can wear now.  I also have a few pieces that are an 18 that fit.

Realistically, I'm probably going to end up in a size 14, maybe a 12, when I'm done losing.  That is so much better than I was, but I wish that I could wear an 8 or a 10.  I'm now the size I was in high school, so it's not like I've ever been a size 8 or 10 -- I just wish I could be.  At 5'8" with a large frame, it's just not in the cards for me.

I need to remember to be GRATEFUL for how far I've come instead of being so hard on myself for not getting to a size 8/10.

I thought the same thing.

I was at 140# and at goal when my band problems serously kicked in and  I lost another 20#.  It wasn't until I lost the extra 20# that I realized I am a lot smaller boned than I realized.  120# is good for me, who would have known?

You just never know. ;o)

I was a 12 at my smallest and 32 at my largest.  I gave up dieting when I couldn't get into a 10.  Now I'm an 18/20.  I'd be thrilled to be a 12 again.
I don't know why we are so hard on ourselves.
We should install photoshop in our mind's eye.

You are all so right and I appreciate your responses.  I have to see how far I've come and be very thankful for being able to have the gift of this surgery.  And who knows where I'll get.  I am not even quite 9 months post-op!  I could continue losing for another 9 months and with all the exercise I'm doing, only time will tell where I get.

In the meantime, it's wonderful to feel so much better, have resolution of all my weight-related health problems, and get the (unwanted) male attention.

Thanks again for replying!  You all are the best and help me so much on this journey, which is becoming increasing psychological I might add!

Leann, we're doing just fine.    Measure your wrists to see if you really are a "large" frame.  All along, I just assumed I was and measured my wrist yesterday and discovered I'm just a medium frame.  You could just be tall, I don't think height governs the body frame.  :-)

Hang in there.  Have fun on your cruise and enjoy.  You are looking better and better all the time  :-)

OK all you tall guys, not fair.I am 5'3" and I will be happy to get into a 12 or 14!  I have to get my tall daughters to reach up to get things out of the top cabinets for me.    I would like to be 2-3 inches taller, but it ain't gonna happen.   Once I did get down to a size 8 and I looked like HELL.  All pointy and boney in the face  and I could not enjoy eating or anything.  I do not want to go there again!   I want to reach a point where I feel good, look fine and can still eat what I enjoy without feeling like every bite is a crime.  Leanne you look great.  Can you imagine with a larger frame how gaunt you would look at size 8.  Love who you are, you are wonderful.

I am only one, But still, I am one.  I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.  And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do
the something that I can do.

I made it a point to ask my surgeon about if he had a goal set for me...He said he doesn't do that because there is not telling how far you can get down with following the plan and exercise(healthy living)

I started out size 26-28.  I'm wearing size 8 pants today.  Never would have dreamed it was possible.    I kept dropping weight until I was about 15 months post op.  You're only 9 months out.

You might continue to loose inches without loosing actual weight on the scale.  So, that means that your clothes might change.
Just think, you likely didn't get to shop the clearance racks too often before surgery and now you can!  That's great!!!
If you've never been a size 8-10 that's very telling that perhaps it's not you.  It's nothing you can control.
Just take the tags off your clothes and forget the fact that there is a size. easier said than done, I know...

You have lost 8 to 9 sizes! Your 5'8" and I am 5'0"with a small frame packing 228 pounds. You must look pretty good in a 14 or 16 with your height. I still look like a butterball in a size 14, not that I have worn a 14 in years.

How would you reply to someone who asked your question?

There is so much to be grateful for and right now I am grateful to be getting surgery, and then I will be grateful for every benefit WLS will give me. I am going to make a list on my way down to see how many negatives are now positives.
