Getting back on track....need some ideas
Hello,
I haven't been here in a while.... I have been at a weight loss stall for like a year and tried Weigh****chers but have lost and gained the same 4 lbs. I went back to my binder that they gave me when I got the surgery where they give me the guidelines that I should follow after 6 months post op until goal weight. Although I have lost 120 lbs I still have 80 lbs or so to lose.
Yesterday was my first day of going back to the program and finding it challenging staying away from what I was doing before (sabottaging myself) but doing it. I am also drinking my 80 oz of water a day.
I need ideas for recipes..........lunch...dinner ideas....
Really want to continue losing..... I am going back to my thinking of when I first got the surgery why I wanted this change.
Right now I am restricted on how much exercise I can do because when I tried raising up a knotch on activity I tried zumba and injured my back.... I have been going to chiropractor for like 5 weeks...I am much better but my exercise is restricted to some bike riding, some light weight more reps. No treadmill (too hard on back).
I know I can continue to do this... I had RNY 2 years ago in December.
Anybody else out there on my same boat???
Thank you.

Have you checked out the "Back on Track Together" group here on OH? It has helped lots of folks get their groove back, so to speak. Here is the link:

Hope this helps somehow. Good luck getting it back together. Been there, doing that. =)

Make sure you get enough calories each day. Many people trying to get back on track go too overboard with limiting their food and that just sets you up to fail. Start out with 1,200 calories minimum--with at least 35% from protein.
As soon as you are able, work on your core muscles. Not just your abs--your entire core (from your armpits to your hips). I have a bad back, and most of my back pain has gone now that I have strengthened my core. It really is the "girdle" of the body that supports everything.
Also, when you can, up the weights. Do not be afraid of weights. You will not get bulky. Building muscles makes your metabolism work like it is supposed to!
I wish you much success--you are worth every bit of effort it takes to win this battle!

I am in the EXACT same boat. I had surgery just about 2 years ago and have lost 90 lbs. However, I have 40-50 more lbs to go. I don't eat a lot but I do snack often and at night! I so desperately want to lose the additional weight and get back to protein shakes, but I to am good at losing self-control.
Good luck to you! We CAN do this.

If you could eat anything you wanted and still lose weight, what would be on the list?
For me, it is sometimes cookies and brownies instead of meals. And that is what I eat. I find great recipes on the internet with low fat, high protein (from eggs), and sugar substitutes.
I come up with something around 300-400 calories and use that for a meal sometimes. I skip the meal and fill up on the dessert.
The secret to me has always been to enjoy the foods I want. Anything that involves sacrificing, denial, etc. is something that I am going to do for a while, get sick of, and then go back to what I want. For me, it just guarantees that I will have cravings, then rebel and give in to those cravings.
Whatever weight I lose on the "diet" comes right back when I am tired of the diet.
So I try to only eat what I really like and forget being on the wagon, being on a diet, giving up anything. It takes some time and work, but well worth it to me.

I can relate somewhat. I have gained 10 pounds this year and Im just sick about it.
I started going back to support group meetings, talking to my nutritionist, eating out of a measuring cup too. ( I did all this in the beginning) I also increased my walking..set a goal of 4 miles a day.
Newbies have a hard time understanding how we can gain or eat things we shouldn't. But the truth is....we are human and not perfect. Having surgery doesn't shut your mind off of eating or permenantly change what we like to eat.
You can get back on track...just go back to the basics and look for some motivation.

I'm right there with you. I had my surgery 2 yrs ago, went from 365 to 205, and now I'm back up to 225-230. I am so mad at myself. I know exactly what it is too.. I have never dumped on ANYTHING... so it is so easy to just have a cookie... have a couple of french fries.. and Bam! Here comes the pounds again. I actually bought the Zumba as well.. and I am thinking it would probably benefit me a whole lot more if I actually used it..instead of it sitting in the box ;-). I have never wanted to be tiny, and I would actually be happy to stay at a size 14 or so.. but now my 16's are getting tight, so I am going to go back to my book as well. I dropped 50 pounds pre-surgery with the Kaiser 1200 calorie eating plan.. and it was alot of food. So, I know I can do it, just have to get off my butt. If you want to chat, or need a buudy, feel free to mssg me :-)
Have a great day!
