Post surgery liquid diet... I'm having a hard time with it, did you?

I had my vertical sleeve gastrectomy 4 days ago and am having a harder time with the liquid diet than I did with the pre-surgery liquid diet. Did anyone else experience this? If so, what helps?
Many said that I wouldn't be very hungry and that's not the case with me... or is it JUST ME? :-/

Yes I hated it. I dont think I was truly hungry. I was dealing with head hunger. My saving grace was my Doctors plan only required me to stay on liquids for a week, than mushies. Try making noodles and just use the juice. I also ate a lot of SF popsicles. Hang in there.

Thanks for the encouragement, I need that. Also, I think you're absolutely right about the "Mind Hunger" thing. Although, my diet consist of ONLY clear liquids right now, I still have to prepare healthy meals for my husband and 5 children (18, 16, 11, 4 & 1).
It is almost torture to prepare their meals and watch them eat it whilde I suck on a sugar free popsicle.
Do you think I'm wrong for asking them to not eat in front of me right. I was on liquids pre-surgery, but now... it's really getting to me? Like you said, "Mind Hunger".

Hun, i absolutely do not think it is wrong. Im sure they love you and want to be supportive. If anything maybe you can go outside for a sit, or in another room and spend a few minutes by yourself when you eat. Just until you get stronger and can eat more.

WTG on being able to make dinner and such for a big family right after dinner....and i was worried about sitting at a desk

I'm in my last week of mushy foods, and my husband has either cooked he and the girls something every meal or they've had convenience foods.  I can not cook something and not eat it.  In fact, we got a new stove on my way home from surgery (go figure) and as I was putting my girls' healthy and nutritious supper of....corndogs :) in I figured out I don't know how to work the darn thing!!  On Mem. Day, I went and took a nap while hubby grilled burgers-just couldn't handle it.  But, it's getting better every day, and you and I both will make it! Hang in there sister!

I would post this over on the VSG board.  Go under forums, and you can find it.  Give yourself some time to heal; sometimes, gas pain can feel like hunger.  I feel much better 10 days out than I did when I was 4.

Thank you for the advice and thanks for referring me to the vsg forum. I am new to this and haven't really found my way around it yet.

Try  sugar free hot cocoa with protein added, and  anything you can do to reduce gas...as well.. My Doc wanted me to use large doses of Mylecon( I would use 4) immediately post-op as I was a chronic air swallower...  Post op liquids are hard, but necessary for the healing... It is not JUST you. We are all on this journey and here to help.... let us know  your outcome.

Thanks, but I was told clear liquids only (oh how nice that would be ). However, I will try Mylecon, I can see how that would relieve some of this pain and discomcort.

My surgery is 6/10 and yes I am going to have to stay as far from the food as possible.

My family hass been told that a few days after surgery are going to be take out week, or I am going to cook ahead of time and have my son pop food in the oven. I will have to stay far from the smell and sight of food.

Are you on a PPI for acid? That is supposed to help with hunger also. Stay hydrated and try warm green tea.
