Yep, I have always had this....not just since RNY surgery.
When I am full, I will start to burp or belch and believe me, it's not very appetizing for your dinner partners. :-)
The nose running is chronic with eating or any change in temperatures for me.
I get tired of going through 2-3 kleenex each meal, with the drip/drip/drip.....

Like Judi said, it's related to the Vagus nerve system. My diaphragm got damaged during lapband surgery and after band removal, I had about a year where I sneezed from morning until night in a cycle of about every 4 days. It was the craziest thing... and it was from the diaphragm being irritated. I'd sneeze to the point of passing out!  It sounds SO ridiculous, but it really disrupted my life. It was SO annoying!

Wow!  That is interesting.  Who'da thunk it???

What you have been through sounds horrible.  Those are some really rough things.   Have you finally healed after all that?

I think I'm kinda sorta healed. I still get a twinge now and then in my left shoulder and it shoots up into the left side of my nose. I never realized how "connected" everything is! In spite of that one song!  (the hipbone's connected to the... leg bone... or whatever.)

My doc told me that because the diaphragm is always expanding and contracting, it never gets a chance to really heal up. It takes a long, long time. That is what concerns me SO much with lapbands. They irritate the nerves running through the diaphragm and it can become permanent. And cripes, it is annoying!

That is my signal that I am full and I stop eating. This is actually quite a common signal, running nose or hiccups.
