Necrotic wound pics

I am 3 /12 weeks post fleur de lis tummy tuck and brachioplasty.

The arms incisions have done well no dead tissue but some incision separation under the armpits.  The left arms is the worst.  I have a picture.  It is doing well.

The other picture is of my TT where vertical & horizontal incisions met.  It became necrotic (immediately after surgery and progressively became larger) and PS debrided it last Monday, 3 weeks post op, and this is what it looks like today.  I also have a small black area at belly button - I don't know if he will do anything with that or not.

I do twice daily shower irrigations with wet to dry dressings twice  a day.  Drainage is clear yellow, no foul smell, no fever.  The "hole has not opened up" but it is red above the opening on the incision.

Let me know what you think.  I'm sure the PS will do more debridement on this coming Monday and not looking forward to it.

I guess pics aren't showing.  Click on my user name under my Avitar pic and you should see them.  I reposted this thread.  Sorry.

LL kindly posted the pics, and I see those.

I had replied on the plastics board, but figured I'd add something. First, those don't look as bad as they sounded in your description on the other board.

Along with what your surgeon has you doing, make sure you have enough vitamin C, and on the off chance that you smoke, really try to refrain, since that messes up your circulation. Also if you have diabetes or any insulin/blood sugar issues, try to keep that stable. Those are just things that I've seen really mess up healing. Otherwise, I think those will fill in from the bottom and be fine if you just rinse them like your surgeon says, and let him know immediately if any redness increases, or there is any odor.

This sure made me never want to go through plastics! I can't handle my 6 little 1" incisions as it is

Hope it heals up nicely

My recent surgery had a 25% chance of developing wound issues like yours. I don't honestly know if I would have had the courage to have the surgery if I'd realized how awful it would be.... yuck. Sorry I have nothing positive to add, but I did post the pictures so others who know more could respond.

I commented on your pics. They actually look pretty darned good to me. The fact that you have no untoward odor or other yuckiness is an excellent sign. Trust the voice of experience: necrotic tissue is an unforgettable stench. Very good that your surgeon is being so thorough in caring for this.

I got a pretty significant hunk of necrosis when I had my TT and wound up having a surgical revision four weeks out. Pics here are not for the faint of stomach: http://www.angelfire.com/mt/lovelylovely/tummytuck .

It's been almost three years now. Everything healed up nicely after the revision. Right in the center of what was once the necrotic area I have a little patch where the skin is totally adhered to whatever is underneath--scar tissue, abdominal wall, whatever. The incision is a nice slim, slowly fading "smiley" from hip to hip. It was a brutal experience that I doubt I'll ever dare to repeat, but I'm happy with the results.
