Does anyone take muscle relaxers for back spasms since having weight loss surgery?  I have some but never asked the surgeon if it was ok, I am allowed to take Xanax and Ativan, so I wouldn't see that it would be much different.

I had the sleeve so Im not sure if it would be the same but I take them because I get tension headaches and cant take Ibuprofen yet.  No problems here! But Id check with your Doc just to make sure!

Good luck!

I take a high dosage of Zanaflex, a muscle relaxer, every day, 3 times a day. I have severe spinal osteoarthritis, a number of other back issues, and fibromyalgia. The fibro causes muscle pain, some days so severe, it's hard to even grasp a cup, and all that on top of all the back issues.
I had Rny in March and have been taking them since a month post-op. I am seen and monitored by a pain management specialist and my PCP, which are both fully aware and have experience with WLS patients.
I have developed no problems or had any adverse side effects, so far, so i would say, if it helps with your pain, makes your life easier, and you more able to function normally......go for it!
I only strive to be, the kind of person my dogs think I am!

Of the choices we are given, it's no choice at all....
