Hello All,
I am new here and have a tenative surgery date for bypass surgery on Oct. 13. I just met with my surgeon who has now told me I need to lose 14 pounds before he can operate. OK, I am fine with that. After meeting with the nutrionist, besides chibani yogurt and egg whites, I am really not sure what I should be eating. She did tell me that I needed to eat my protien first, then veg/fruit then a starch if needed.
I am really hoping some of you can give me a typical day of your food so that I sort of know where to begin. I don't want to go back to Weigh****chers and follow their guidelines because I want to change the eating habits as much now so I am prepared for after the surgery. Could you please help me out and let me know what your day of eating is like, breakfast, lunch, supper, is there a snack if so what kind.
I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for your help and hopefully support as I start my journey

I had my rny almost 2 years ago and did WW back then.  At one point, I did go back to WW so I would be held accountable for what I was eating and could be weighed.  While going through the process and now,  I adapt the wls  guidelines to the WW program.  I'm lucky enough to have one of their cookbook from 1973 (it has a pink dust jacket on it)  that is very wls surgery friendly.
The dietitian looked what I was eating just before surgery and what I eat now,  and she told me not to change anything.  Also,  when I'm home, I still weigh and measure everything. I, also, journal everything that I eat.  If I'm going through a rough spot,  I can look back to see where I'm messing up.
My eating goes a lot like this:
Breakfast: serving of Special K with 1/4 cup FF milk (3/4 goes towards my hot tea through out the day and maybe some blueberries
Snack: Chabani yogurt
Lunch: 2-3 ounces of protein(chicken, beef, tuna) or 1 egg with a slice of FF American cheese, 1 slice of Arnold he artful bread (it has 5 grams of protein and 5 grams of dietary fiber), and depending on what the protein is; 1tsp mayo or 1tsp margarine, tomato or some other kind of veggie;
Snack: either yogurt (I love yogurt) , a serving size of nuts(besides the one I live with) , an egg or chicken leg.
Dinner:  2-3 ounces of protein,  sweet potato or the Arnold he artful bread) 1tsp of mayo margarine, veggie.  If I make homemade chili, then I would have 1 cup of chili with 1 FF American cheese
Snack: some kind of protein.
I do have treats every so often but it's like a serving size of  fig newtons, low fat crackers, etc.
Also every so month es, I'm at a point where I will have a slice of regular pizza, a candy bar, a child's serving of ice cream, or if I'm out with my husband, he and I will split a slice of cheesecake. It took me a long time to get to this point.  The food that I just mentioned are special treats, not everyday events.
I'm glad to hear that you are working on getting your eating habits ready now.  It's going to help you in the long run.
Sorry that this is kind of long winded.  I hope it helps.
