I'm 2 yrs.post op from rny. Since my surgery, I urinate more often then before surgery. I've been noticing though that I have low back & abdomen discomfort lately & urinating 3 times an hour.

Does anyone else have this issue since surgery? I still keep up on my fluids because I don't want negative effects from bring dehydrated.

Thank you,
Nissa

It sounds like you have a UTI, or possibly a bladder or kidney infection. Go see a doc.

Drink as much water as you can.  There is also diet cranberry juice that really helps me. This sounds like UTI, and not at all weight loss surgery related.

Wait, has it been happening since you had surgery, or is this a new thing?  If it's been going on for 2 years, you may have overactive bladder.

Either way, go see your Dr.  Good luck.

I had this pre-op but was able to get away with it because the fat "down there" helped keep me from peeing my pants all the time. When I lost weight, I had big issues with not making it to the bathroom in time and ended up having to go on medicine for it. The medicine helps SO MUCH.

there is a uro/gyno that could answer your question its a urologist/gyno specialist who can also check you out and consult with your surgeon who performed your wls.  Also keep in mind that since we had this surgery we are supposed to be drinking alot of water/liquids and it also means we pee more?  Just guessing.  good luck and please share if you don't mind what you find out .

I had a urethrual sling put in. It helped with leakage.
Just something to think about if you continue to have problems.  Gyn will take care of it.

Sensitivy to what you are eating or drinking can develop pretty quickly and cause the symptoms you are describing. Caffeine in various forms can cause back pain (kidney's working overtime) and urgency to urinate.  Alcohol can be a culprit, too.  Also different kinds of foods such as citric and tomatoes, and artificial sweetners can irritate the bladder.  Just a thought...
