Hi all! I am 2 weeks post op and I am extremely tired and unmotivated. I started back to work a few days ago and I don't want to do anything. Last week and right after surgery all I wanted to do was move, then this week all I want to do is sit on the couch cause I am SO tired. I have been told not to take my supplements yet, seeing the Doctor today, but I haven't lost weight in a week and I hate feeling like this!!

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. I haven't been in a funk like this in a long time!!

 Cortnee,

What you are feeling/living is completley normal.  The first week we are all so excited to be "on the other side".  The second week, our bodies start adjusting to the drastic caloric deficit.  It won't last too long but drink your water and get in your protein.  Move as much as you can and you will feel better in no time.

(((HUGS))), this too shall pass.

Thank you!! I appreciate the encouragement. I haven't been drinking water because I feel like I drink so much of everything else! I don't know when to get it in. Any suggestions? I am drinking vitamin water zero but not even that much.

Thanks!

Pretty much anytime your not eating or drinking a protein shake, you should be sipping on water.  I know it can be overwhelming but it's important no matter what surgery we had.  Getting even a little dehydrated can make you feel really lethargic (or worse).  Sip constantly.

Hang in there!

Ok - I haven't been hardly drinking water at all. I feel like I am sipping on protein drinks all day. Then try a little food here and there. Mostly beans and guacamole. Lol! But I saw the Dr. today so I have moved to soft foods and I am hearing everyone on the water situation. So I will definitely switch to more of that!!

Thank you SO much! What an amazing feeling to get so many wonderful responses from everyone

Hang in there sweetie, it gets sooooooooooo much better. I was tired off and on for a while but then as the weight starts to fly off, your body starts to get energy, more than you probably have had in a while.

Its all about drinking water. Water is your most crucial factors in getting your body kicking in ts gear.  The water is essential to all of this.  How is your walking coming along?  I am spooked by hearing that you arent losing weight. I dropped 13 my first week out.  So I hope this week stays the same.

Track how much water you are drinking as well as your other intake.  I have just finished my first week.  So I feel you that my urge to move to the next stage in overwhelming.  The thought process that keeps me going is this: If I could do it on my own, I would have. My surgeon is decided that this is the best route, and he is the experienced one in this relationship.  Also, check with your NUT.

Stay focused, that you did this for a reason, and keep strong. WE have a very long route to go, and water is one of the keys. I am sipping 65oz aloner of water, and then some juice and popsicles.  My energy level is high, just this damn cabin fever is killing me!

Thank you to ALL of you!! I really appreciate the input. I will definitely start drinking more water. And Big Johnny, I did lose 10 lbs. right away, but I think my lady bug got in the way this week  so I am hoping with more water and exercise I will feel better. My schedule changed drastically Monday going back to work. I just need to get moving!! I was moving SO much before I started back to work. I think it's an adjustment period!!

Just made a bean salad for my first "soft food" try

Thanks again everyone!!

Part of your issue is likely returning to work too early.  Adjusting to exercise, feeling fatigued, adjusting to eating foods again, drinking enough water.....are all things that take time to deal with.  Most patients I know took their full 30 days off of work to get these items adjusted, so they could deal with the work situation easier when the time came.  Hi Dave! Thanks for the response. I think you are right. I think it's the combination of things and me being REALLY hard on myself. I expect results but my body just needs time.

Take care
