Personally, I think they should sneak back into the country, refuse to work and suck off the welfare system, don't pay taxes, and chances are they'd be allowed to stay. Heck, in some states she might even qualify for free college and low interest mortgage rate.

This is so much BS it makes me sick to my stomach. But as screwed up as our government is anymore, does it surprise me? Not one bit...

actually, illegals are not eligible for food stamps or welfare.  (my husband works for DHS taking applications, doing enterviews, approving/denying those very benefits for people - so im a little more educated on those rules than i'd like to be.)  if ur not legal, providing them with a soc sec #, etc, u do not get benefits.

i cant speak about the tax part except to say that major corporations dont pay hardly any tax & i think thats where we lose the biggest chunk of tax $$$.  (the tax gap in this country is enough to swallow us ALL whole!)  and regardless of your legal status, if u dont pay taxes, u dont collect social security.  so thats a big insentive for ANYBODY to WANT to pay legally in my opinion (no matter who u r if u know what i mean.)

also... i think the free college tuition thing never passed, but i dont want to state that as fact bcause i never followed up on it after the arguement began when the idea of that legislation was being pass around.  so i have no idea about that

My comments were meant to be more "tongue in cheek," based upon things I have read that were being considered at one time or another by our glorious legislators, rather than actual seriousness.

That would be kinda hard, for an illegal. Sucking off the welfare system is for Americans.

I work for an Immigration Lawyer and I heard about this case and believe it or not, she is not the first person to have this happen to, she just happen the be the one that everybody is talking about.

I personally think this is bull. It is clear to me that she is an american citizen. But first thing first, Immigration cannot just deport someone, there is the process of law. She is probably is going to be served with an NTA (notice to appear) to a hearing before a Judge.

There she is going to have to proof hardship if she is deported. More than likely the IJ (immigration Judge) will either Administrative close her case, or granted her asylum or COR (cancellation of Removal for non Legal permanent resident) or clearly find her to be a USC (US Citizen) based on her adoption. Either way, she will probably not be deported.

This is why, we need the DREAM Act, This will give a chance to all of those kids that entered the USA as children. Give them the chance to have a future in the only country they know,

my two cents

ive seen reference to the dream act a couple of times now.  im going to have to research it so im not ignorant about it.

the were going through a process, etc, though im not sure what all it was.  i just know she has to go to mexico to get mexico to try to admit/agree and provide proof of her mexican citizenship so that she can "become" a legal american however that process will work.

I personally dont think she hsould have to do ANYTHING. shes been here since she was 6 months old.  as far as im concerned, shes as american as any of us.  but apparently, she has to get papers through both countries to AGREE that she was mexican and is not american.

such a load of crap

The Dream Act was defeated in the house.  The core of it is that children who were brought here as children and know no other home should be given the opportunities (same ones as Americans, no more no less) to go to college and seek citizenship at 18
