I don't understand why he banned you from eating fruits and veggies. I will understand if he just limit you from eating to much of it. Did you ask him why He don't want you to eat fruits and veggie? I think you need to know the reason why he advice you not to take fruits and veggie. And how long you should stop taking fruits and veggie.

I rarely ate fruits and veggies during my weigh loss phase b/c my focus was protein, my supplements gave me the rest of the vitamins and stuff I needed. Now in maintenance I eat fruits and veggies in moderation, but I am very picky about the ones I eat, they need to be nutrient dense, lower on the glycimic scale and have some benefit to me. Like I don't eat regular potatoes or bananas b/c what my body gets from them is little in comparison to the carbs/calories from them.

My surgeon said no juice, but that was only because its basically empty calories. Even so, I'll still have a little every now and then. I've found that a half apple juice, half water mixture tastes good, helps me meet my liquid goals, and doesn't add too many calories. But saying no milk is weird, since low-fat milk is great for weight loss. Its high in protein, too.

Also, I'm 3 months post-op, and I can eat pretty much any fruit/veggie. My surgeon only told me to avoid starchy veggies that will slow my weight loss, but never out-and-out forbade anything.

I managed to ask the nutritionist again via email and he replied that the fruits and veggies are off limits on RNY surgery until I lose at least 75% of my excess weight. Then I can add them back slowly. With sleeve, he said to avoid most fruits (except berries) and avoid starchy veggies like potatoes in order to lose good weight.

He also said that milk is off limits because it will cause dumping on RNY. He also said with milk and juice...don't drink your calories.

every place has their own plan. I was encouraged to add veggies and fruits back in during the soft food phase.

I eat veggies and/or fruits at every meal (and usually for snacks as well) and my weight loss is going at a good clip.
