There are many people *****gain if they don't follow their RNY lifestyle ...

1.  Protein first meals (80-100gms per day), complex carbs (vegetables, whole grains) (no white carbs or processed foods while trying to lose)
2.  No drinking with meals or for a minimum of 30 minutes afterwards
3  Exercise at least 5 x 1 hour per week - try to find something you LIKE doing
4  Follow recommended vitamin regime
5  Regular labs to check status

There is no need for you to go on any crazy liquid diets, you just need to get back to doing what you should have been doing all along.

42lbs is not insurmountable - you won't lose it as quickly as you did after surgery - but you certainly can lose it if you get back on the RNY lifestyle train!!!

50% of RNY post-ops regain 50% of their lost weight by year 5.  So if they lose 100 pounds, half of them gain back 50.  You are not alone.  This is actually how the surgery works.  It gets off about 100 pounds in the first year, keeps you at the weight loss for about a year and then you body figures out how to absorb calories again and it starts gaining again.

All of the things about will help.  Daily weighing is one thing that I find very helpful.  I try to always know what I weigh, so I don't get shocked when I get onto the scale.  I have maintained my weight loss and do that by eating less and exercising more.  You don't have to be a gym rat.  I just spent three hours picking weeds and shoveling and raking mulch in really hot sweaty conditions.  I know I burned some calories and my yard looks really nice where I was working.

I don't follow any diet, I do drink a lot of water and a lot of Pepsi Max, diet gingerale, and
crystal light.  I try to get in lots of fiber and eat a lot of fruit and vegetables.  I no longer want much meat.  My three suggestions are water, movement and a scale.  You can take the weight back off.  I have a period of regain during the third year.  I had  decided to stop obsessing over the scale.  Once I went back to obsessing over the scale I did a lot better.

Good luck with getting the weight back under control.  You don't have to do anything drastic, you don't have to deny yourself any foods or food groups.  It will be enough to just stay aware.

I had my RNY a few months after you. At the 2 year mark I gained 10 pounds, but lost it and am now under my goal weight. I track what I eat now on myfitnesspal. I still wait an hour after I eat to drink anything. Some sort of physical activity is also a must. You can do this!!
