My dietitian suggested that I use an app to log my food and exercise. She suggested sparkpeople or myfitnesspal? I am not familiar with either of them and trying to look online I don't see much right now unless i register (but of course I would like to pick one first!). What do/did you use pre-op/currently to log? Pros and cons of the apps suggested to me? I am striving to be a "model" pre-op patient lol and want to show I can and will succeed in this venture!

I like spark people...iPhone, iPad and pc apps all work for me, plus they have a recipe calculator to determine nutritional info for your own recipes and enter them into your meal plan.

I too really like Sparkpeople. I have been using it since surgery and it's nice because you can pick nutrients that you want to track. Their database of foods is pretty extensive.

For your home cooked foods you can figure out their caloric content by using their sister site, www.sparkrecipes.com. What's really great is that you use the same username and password for both sites, so your recipes automatically transfer to your Sparkpeople profile.

I have been using Lance Armstrong's Livestrong's My Plate for years. It used to be two different websites then LiveStrong took over My Plate. The others mentioned you can create your own meals or recipes also and it will tell you calories, protein, fat ect. www.livestrong.com/myplate Whichever you choose it is one of my most valuable tools cuz if I don't log even this many years out I still way underestimate if I don't log.

Hi,

I used this site and still do now and then.  I had sleeve  surgery 4 years ago and lost 105 pounds and have kept it off.

Give this site a try:

Take care,
Suzanne

I use MyFitnessPal. I eat out a lot and it also has a lot of restaurants in it already and you can add your own meals. This is great because I eat a lot of repeat items.
