You have seen my posts about being dizzy & lightheaded. It seems the verdict is that I need more fluids. Since surgery plain water of any temperature makes me sick-so I have been drinking crystal light. Well, today I am drinking Powerade. I have drank probably 50 oz already of it...and am still dizzy. You all think drinking that much Powerade Zero is ok?  I am sure water is preferred, but it makes me want to hurl when I drink plain water. Your thoughts???

Does this dizziness get better on phase 2 where I am eating puréed foods...possibly...hopefully??

Thank you!

My surgery is next week, so I don't know if I'll experience the same problem, but I do hope you feel better soon :D

At this point, drink what you can...if Powerade is all you can manage, DRINK it...

You need to be as hydrated as possible...your job at this point is to get fluids, walk, and heal!

Dehdration may not be fully gone with 12 hours of Powerade. I just noticed you posted 12 hours ago about being dizzy. If the dizziness doesn't improve in the next 24 or so, I'd contact my surgeon--he may want to see you. DAVE

For me I know we are not suppose to use straws but I seem to be able to get more fluids if I use a straw. If I relied on sipping it would never happen for me sadly,

Be cautious with too much powerade/gatorade- WHen I first met hubby it was ALL he drank, and at one point he was very ill from an electrolyte imbalance, he was drinking TOO much of them! Could you water it down or maybe try unsweetened iced tea also to get your fluids in and see if it helps?

try Syntrax Nectar. It's a thin Protien mix which comes in many flavors like ice tea, fuzzy navel, fruit punch etc.  This stuff rocks. Drink water as you get your protien!  I love this stuff!
