In NY......medicade does pay for WLS.....I have a neice that is going through the pre-op stuff and my doc said in our class that Medicade patients fly through. As long as there was a need (had to have issues with weight for a documented time, 2-3 co-morbidity issues and meet the requirements of the Bariactric dept---psych meeting, nutritionist meeting, surgeon meeting, 2-3 group meetings and lab work) BUT I just read earlier that every state is different.
