Someone is posting that their Nut said 130gms of carbs daily to help with regain, here is...
Lots of things other than that list contain carbs. Milk, yogurt, protein bars, etc. I eat 150 grams a day and have maintained my 200 pound loss for over 3 years. Carbs are not a problem for many of us. Overeating and lack of exercise is.

EXACTLY what Laura said. I eat AT LEAST 120 carb grams each day, along with about the same in protein. And I'm 3 years of maintaining a 160 lb loss. If you are consuming more calories than you are burning off, regardless of what makes up those calories, you'll gain weight.
Weight loss occurs when you consistently create a caloric deficit. Weight gain happens when the opposite occurs. Your body doesn't care what makes up those calories-you can eat Snicker bars or baked chicken, if the calories are more than you burn, you'll gain.
It is really easy to get 130 grams of carbs in in a day without even realizing it
Bowl of oatmeal for breakfast 30 grams carbs
PB & J for lunch on two slices wheat bread 46 grams carbs
Snack banana and string cheese 28 carbs
1 cup of whole wheat pasta for dinner with 1/2 cup Prego 40 for pasta and 22 for the 1/2 cup sauce
So that gets you about 160 grams. Those carbs sneak up on you!
I think if I ate that many carbs every day I would never lose any weight. It seems if I eat a slice of bread I am doomed, so I couldn't imagine 130 grams and still lose weight.

I don't think it is really that hard to do without adding white carbs: fruits, veggies have plenty of carbs in them (unless you are counting those as "white" because of the fruit sugars).

Ah. See, I've never been one for much candy - I would rather have fruit. But put some chips in front of me and watch out (pre-op, of course).

In order to get 130gms of carbs in daily one would have to eat one of the following;
32.5 cups of broccoli
3.5 cups pinto beans
6.2 apples
14.5 fun size Snickers bars
65 saltines
10.8 slices Whole wheat bread
10 slices white bread
Isn't this what got us fat to begin with??
While many of those items can cause weight gain...I seriously doubt anyone ever gained on 130 grams of broccoli...may have plenty of other issues but gaining weight would not be among them.
And no, not everyone got fat by eating that way...many of us just have an out of whack metabolism from a lifetime of dieting.
I was eating about 100 grams of carbs (95% of it green such as broccoli, spinach, etc) pre-op and still putting on weight. Now, I had my surgery which leveled the metabolism playing field that I've fought against since I was 12. Lost all my excess weight and still eat pretty much the way I did pre-op. I had to stop using regular milk as it gave me gas (I use half and half instead now). And store bought bread is a gas culprit...something in the preservatives they use to make them shelf stable. As long as I make my own bread, things are fine.
It's not such a simple answer as each one of us is unique.

Oh, I agree completely! Nobody is going to gain from broccoli. My point was that if someone is sensitive to white carbs and their Nut tells them to eat 130gms of carbs, they either eat something like 32.5 cups of broccoli or they have to resort to white carbs to get 130gms in. Who can eat over 32 cups of broccoli in a day?
If someone is gaining on 100gms of carbs, increasing that to 130 is kind of pointless in my opinion.
Actually, in a warped way, it makes sense...to the nut for NORMIES!
I was told (pre-op) that the reason I gained weight on 1100 calories a day was because I wasn't eating enough carbs. Not saying it's correct but that's what the nuts are taught and surgery isn't factored into their education...
It's only those who UNDERSTAND WLS that know to tell someone to up their protein and fluids and keep their carbs away from dangerous carbs...that will ALMOST always cause weight loss. (I don't say white carbs as cauliflower is white and a carb but like broccoli, is good for most people). And if I say bread type, they will assume I'm not talking rice or potatoes, etc.
