Can't sleep
Call your PCP. You need to sleep. Don't worry about taking a sedative 6 days prior to surgery. Believe me, lots of people take them. Heck, I take a boatload of psych meds and they didn't even blink an eye at it. Anesthesiologists are well trained to deal with this. I knew I would be sleepless the night before my surgery and I had to be there at 5am. It took a Valium the night before, woke up and got to surgery rested and on time.
You don't have to suffer with this.
How about adding some extra exercising and a massage, and or even an aromatherapy type, lavender works, hot soak in the tub before going to bed. Maybe ask your doctor for a better solution too. I think you are really excited about you upcoming surgery, and it's normal. Best wishes for your date too.
