12 years ago I had Gastric Bypass RNY....I am now having trouble with aches in my legs, hips, feet, back, etc.   It seems to get bad every single winter and this year it has been horrible.  I think I might have Osteomalacia. I am going to see my OBGYN tomorrow and I am asking for a Vitamin D test.  I am also menopause and take a half milligram of hormone. I was diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency about three years ago and I took several months of worth 50,000 IUs a week of vitamin D and got much better.  Does anybody else suffer from this each winter?  Do I just need to up my Vitamin D each winter?

ps:  I have also gained back about 40 lbs of the 100 I lost.  I feel constant hunger!!!!!

You may need to up your D in winter because your body produces less then.  It's made by sunshine on the skin, and it's way too cold to take bare skin outside.  Also, if you're constantly hungry, are you on an acid reducer?  Acid can mimic hunger.

Are you taking D2 or D3? Many people take 50,000 D3 two or three times a week, year round, some even more. But everyone is different, and it will depend on your levels. Get your labs done.

I am taking D3.  I have increased my daily intake to 20,000 daily.  I just had vitamin D test Wednesday.  Hoping to get results next week.  I am also going to the beach next week....going to soak up some real vitamin D!
