Has anyone had a revision due to you stretching your pouch? I am on the road to revision and I really want to know how you felt after. Was it just as bad as the first time was it easier was it the same? Please any info would be fantastic.

Not sure what type of revision you are getting. Check revision forum. Good luck.

Have you had a scope done, to see what condition everything is in? Stretching a pouch is really not possible. What can get stretched is the stoma. They've tried some procedures to tighten that, but none of them work well, at all. The only real revision from RNY is the DS, and you can count on one hand the number of surgeons able to do something that complicated.

Good luck.

I have had an endo and my pouch and stoma are definitly stretched out. Actually revision is them going in and making the pouch smaller and also the stoma.

Unless you change the behaviour that stretched the stoma, you will struggle to be successful with any weightloss surgery.

There is no successful stoma revision available at this point.  The only true revision for RNY failure is DS.

do you know for sure that you need a revision? is it about regain due to mechanical failure? i ask because i have had regain, but for me it's not a mechanical issue with the surgery. its a behavioral issue. once i returned to eating according to plan, my restriction returned too. it was about my food choices, not the surgery. have you had any tests to find out the state of your RNY? more questions than answers!

I have had an endo that shows that my stoma and piuch have stretched. My surgeon has recommended a revision. While yes food choices were an issue, and I have tried to "shrink" the pouch. I did a 2 week liquid, and then had a second endo, the pouch was the same size.

i would refer you back to grim and kim's comments above. i don't think there are any proven RNY revisions, other than to DS. but certainly people have done different things like band over bypass or shortening the common channel. i can't say i would do any of those.

revisions are complicated and therefore more dangerous than a virgin WLS. i would think very carefully about going under the knife again (as i'm sure you are). you may find that some behavioral changes can help you rid yourself of the regain. i know it's not easy, i'm going through it too. but in the end, if your behavior doesn't change than no surgery will work. sometimes therapy is the most powerful tool.

Every pouch, and every sleeve, gradually gets larger over the first 1 to 2 years. Every one. But they are still tiny compared to our previous stomachs.

Pouches are made from the least stretchy part of the stomach, so while they do get a little bigger, it really is the stoma that becomes the issue. You can have the smallest pouch in the world, but with a very large stoma, food will go right through.

All the procedures for decreasing the stoma, such as the Rose procedure and stomaphyx, have shown really bad results. Many insurance companies won't cover them for that reason.

Talk to several doctors and get all their advice before making a choice.
