Hello.  I am six weeks post-op and wondering why I can't eat salads?  Anyone?

I am three and a half months out and it's just been in the last few days that I could tolerate even a bite or two of raw greens. A bowl of salad is still completely out of the question, I would be miserable if I tried! Follow your instructions and don't progress quicker than you have been advised.

What happens when you eat raw greens?

My Dietitian explained that it was too high in fiber to be eating any raw or uncooked vegetables for the first 3 months after surgery.  I don't know which procedure you are having but it is best to ask your surgical team for any advice!  Good luck!

That's something I can't really describe, but you'll know it when you feel it, and you'll go to great lengths to avoid it happening again!

Crunchy vegetables tend not to sit well in your stomach post-op.

Additionally, you should be eating EXCLUSIVELY protein for at least the first few months, maybe longer. Maybe a bite or two of veggies after you've finished everything else, but protein goals are number one priority.

Ah, the great Ron Swanson. Clearly, you know what you're about, son. Do you also like pretty brown-haired women and breakfast food? :D

Hi Kimberly I am just over 5 months out.  I tried salade at 3 months out and I felt horrible after.  I threw up foam for about a minute straight and then I started throwing up the lettuce.  It was awful.  Now that I am 5 months out I want to give it another try but am scared so I think I might wait until I am 6 months out to see.  It's a shame as I love salades.

I can however eat diced cucumbers without the skin and tomatoes (with the skin) as long as I chew really well.
