Do calorie posting on menus change your decisions?

Interesting story in the Washington Post this weekend about the pizza industry and the FDA and requirements for posting calories on the menu. Three years post WLS I am actually more concerned with protein than calories, but I'm curious if this information affects your choices. (Full disclosure, I use myfitnesspal to track my food).

It doesn't affect my choices, but when a restaurant goes full disclosure and puts all the nutrition facts, I'm more likely to continue eating there. It makes logging my protein, carbs, calories sooo much easier.

Absolutely! I'm not overly calorie conscious, but when I see a full day's calories in one appetizer, I'm absolutely floored!

I actually appreciate full disclosure restaurants because it makes me plan out the rest of my day a little better. If I do indulge, I try to make up for it.

That being said, if it is ridiculous amount of calories and not nearly the protein, yes I will make a difference choice.

They definitely do, especially at Starbucks. I'll roll in thinking, "Yeah, I'm going to treat myself to a mocha frap!" and then I see the 420 calories there and then I think, "You know, a cold brew with a bit of half and half sounds fantastic!"

At restaurants, not so much because I do focus on protein and I'm not going to eat a whole restaurant portion anyway.

Yes, especially since I realized that the "low fat" yogurt fruit and granola cups in out cafeteria have 560 calories!

It makes me stop and think. If I see a choice with a higher calorie count, I think about what's in the meal. I go low-carb first, then calories. Sometimes it I'm stuck between 2 entrees, it's the decision maker :).

I'm glad to see the calorie count on the menu but I can really understand why the restaurants don't want to do it.
