Im almost 3 months out and lucky me, I got the flu! Any soup or food ideas...Or even drinks? My regular protein rich foods just come back up right now. Also any medication I could get over the counter? I plan on calling my doctor tomorrow. His office is closed right now.

Oh no, hope you feel better! Can you tolerate just broth or hot tea?

I have yet to find a broth I like. Any suggestions? I think I have some peppermint tea, though! I will try some tonight in a warm bath.

any and all liquids you can get down. Have you tried flat sf ginger ale or sprite maybe?

we get dehydrated very quickly post op so be sipping something all the time if you can.

I've managed to keep water down. I also had some watered down Gatorade earlier. I'm not a soda person so none in the house.

Do you have the flu (fever, sore throat, chills, body aches, etc) or do you have a GI virus? If it's a GI virus I would stick to only clear fluids that you can tolerate in tiny sips. Irritating your stomach further will just cause more vomiting and you'll end up dehydrated. You don't need food or protein for the short term of the illness.

I have the flu. Fever, chills, very tired, can't keep food down, sore throat. You're right, seems like I'll be stuck drinking clear fluids for at least another day or 2 :(

About 3 weeks ago my husband had something that was fever, chills, throwing up diaherea, hit like a brick and super tired..... hit him hard but only lasted 2 days -3rd day he was weak feeling. Hopefully this is what you have and not flu that lasts much longer. Only thing he did not have that you mentioned is a sore throat. Do you have chest congestion and head cold? I think that goes with the regular flu. If so maybe go to the doctor for tamaflu.Which will help you get rid of it quicker.

Feel better.
