Does anyone have any other options they use specifically for bariatric patients? I am only allowed ones formulated for RNY and looking for others suggestions for what you like, flavors, etc! I am taking a Bariatric Advantage chewable calcium now Tropical Orange) and a capsule for my Multi with Iron but open to try some other brands? any leads on samples? Can't exactly go to GNC

a lot of us just take Centrum (or the generic equivalent) for our multivitamin. I've also gotten some from Costco recently - and I think some on here have used Trader Joe's multi.

Unjury sells vitamins that are supposed to be pretty good (Opurity). I believe those are formulated for bariatric patients.

I'll look for the Unjury ones. My Dr's office gave me a few of the protein samples to try, so that is nice that they sell vitamins too!

I think because I am so new into the process, I am going to stick with the softest ones I can find. I am still on the soft mushy phase and I don't want to get a pill stuck

well, in all honesty, they can't MAKE you only take vitamins formulated for RNY. If you choose to get something else what are they going to do, spank you?
bariatric vitamins are some of the worst for real supplementation that are available.

lol, very true. But, I JUST had my surgery and I am not sure what my body can handle right now. starting slow because the list of vitamins is looking like it's going to grow. Not sure I want to upset my stomach with a really hard pill?

I have been using regular pills/capsules from dSy 1. I cut the pills into smaller pieces at first Snd the caps went down fine.

Centrum or a good quality generic are often better than so called "bariatric" vitamins.

I agree with the above posters !

I DO go to GNC, the Vitamin Store and CVS and even Walmart for vites lol... as a matter of fact the only really " special " ones I take are easily absorbed multi-iron capsules and huperzine-a ( a Chinese herb to enhance memory and cognitive function ) both of which are off the shelf at any GNC.

Personally, I chew three Flintstones Sours kids ? Multivitamin Gummies every day or prenatal gummies... a ton of chewable vitamin C or Airborne Chewies ( my latest favorite since Covid started ) , take a Ginseng capsule for energy, Huperzine for brains, and add the occasional iron.

Balancing out your calcium/ magnesium intake is one of the most important things you can do ( this is one of the reasons the followup blood tests every six months forever are so important ) ... they'll tell you whether you're excreting calcium or absorbing it properly and a regular dexa scan proving the strength of your bones will confirm you're doing the right things.

I don't bother taking Calcium Citrate ( the form we can absorb) because I practically live on skim milk powder in a million different forms ( fat free ricotta, yogurt, fat free cottage cheese and of course milk to dilute my coffee and make cream soups ) but I do have to supplement magnesium occasionally for proper balance or I notice my hands and/or feet get cramped up.

My surgeon encourages chewing gummy vitamins for several reasons - they're easier to get down and remember because they taste good - also our new pouches have a lot less stomach acid so a pill can get pushed through without being completely digested whereas we actually USE everything in a gummy.

Flintstones sour gummy bears used to be SNEERED AT on here because they're pretty basic vitamin -wise ... but I've chewed them since I had surgery and am pretty gosh darn healthy so far ( knock on wood).

One time my blood test said I needed iron and b12 so I got those ... now I'm fine in that respect .

You know you need a blood draw if your energy level goes down- your body is asking for help then...

I'll have to ask about a gummy vitamin. I vaguely remember that one was on the list for "not right now" but won't hurt to double check

I went back to the one I started with after trying a few, and will take it forever, as my labs are always terrific. It is ProCare Health Bariatric Once-A-Day Multivitamin w/45mg Iron. They are made specifically for WLS patients. I get them on Amazon, cost averages out to $16/month.
