Hello, had my sleeve June 15, 2015. Had my 6 month post op visit and the weight loss was excellent. But my blood count was not. They said my wbc was low and was vitamin d deficient, b-12 deficient , aniemic and losing muscle. I have been exercising 3 to 4 times a week most of the time. Started lifting weights and feel pretty good. But know I am scared. They want me to see a hematologist. I had a high and went to a low within 10 minutes. My highest weight was in February of 2015 (400lbs) and weight in January 21, at(301 lbs) but then got the news about my wbc. I must admit that at times I may not have been getting all my proteins in and taking my vitamins as routinely but since then has been making an effort to do better. Have you or anyone that you know have had any issues with low wbc counts.
Hello!!!!!
Hubby just reminded me that today is the 15th so I am actually posting on my surgiversary day. It has been a long, tough, journey. My starting weight was 342 lbs and now I am, again, 10 lbs from my goal weight, at 150. I have not ever been at 140 lbs and I am still trying. I have planned to adjust my eating and exercise to something I can do on a daily basis. I am tired of this up and down weight gain and loss. I just want to get to 140 lbs and a size 6, or lower, and stay there for the duration. I mean size 8 is ok but its not my goal.
With my emotional eating, it's just so hard for me to stay on track but I am gonna work hard from now on to conquer this mess. It has had a hold of me almost all my life. I know I need to incorporate more water into my diet and eat more when I exercise too much. Some days I get in some really intense workouts but then I don't eat enough to balance it out.
It would definitely make a big difference if I got my thighs, arms, and breast done since my surgeon told me I can come back at anytime to get them done. But since he did my panniculectomy and butt lift I'm still experiencing itching around my mid section and have to use ointment everyday, I really am not planning to do it. I'm pretty much in the same boat as before having the surgery done, having to put something on my stomach everyday.
I wish everyone continued luck on your journey. Happy New Year!

Hi i was just visiting this site i was on revision.. im returning after 10 years i had the lapband back in january 2006 but now is not working anymore for me so i am getting the gastric sleeve..so i do know a little about post -op
As far as your water intake i was always in the hospital for dehydration at least once a month. the staff in the emergency room knew me by name lol trust me if you cant get the water in yourself go get the hospital and get the iv lol you will fill the difference right away i love it
I had the RNY surgery in 2011. I lost 150 and in the last 1.5 years I've regained about 60. I've thought about the revision surgery but dread those first 6 months of recovery.
Hello Queen,
I'm an old timer as well. I was part of the site when I had my lap band surgery back in 2003!!
Highest wt:301
Lowest wt:167
Current start wt: 241
Today's weight:233
I lost over 130 lbs and put wt back on in the last 2 yrs. I was wearing a size 10-12 at my lowest and now I'm wearing a size 16....(I cry a bit everytime I say that) but I'm holding on to those size 12 s cos I know I'm going to get back in them. I just had an aggressive "fill" for my band on Tuesday and here 3 days later I'm already down 8 lbs.
I'm so impressed with the black forum because we women don't focus on that size 6-8 that other women find to be a goal. LOL if I could get back down to my size 12 I'll be happy!! I'm African American as well as Native American. I'm new to the site so I'm trying to get some current pics up!
Thanks for the inspiration girl!!

Maiya,
Yes, this is difficult and will not be a walk in the park. Change your mindset..you took a positive step to better health and you should feel great about this. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and making excuses.
Use positive thinking...you can do this. Start logging your food and drink on My Fitness Pal. Hold yourself accountable for everything you put in your mouth. Get your walking in...
Make a list of all the things you want to do when you lose weight. Stay encouraged.
I will check on you.

I sure hope so. This is truly the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I now see I wasn't ready just yet for this.. But I'm here now and have to make the best out of this. I would absolutely love if you could check up on me. and would greatly appreciate it.
I guarantee you will feel better when you get those fluids in! I know you are not feeling great now but 2-3 weeks from now, you will feel better.
Take one day at a time....I will check in with you periodically, if you don't mind.
