Hey Trish, thanks for filling in for Karen. Even when I don't post I generally read the daily meditations. We are blessed to have Karen and am sure she appreciates you filling in.

The Greater Purpose of Blessings

Psalm 67

It is God's nature to bless. However, we need to understand that He has a greater purpose in mind than we may realize. His ultimate goal is far more encompassing than just to make us happy, peaceful, protected, and prosperous. In fact, it is never the Lord's intention for His blessings to end with us. Rather, He wants them to flow out to others as part of His plan for the whole earth.

Today's devotions comes from In Touch Ministries, by Dr. Charles Stanley.  Above is the first paragraph of his devotion.  I think it is appropriate for us to read it, and meditate on it, as Karen prepares herself for her surgery.  She has blessed us in getting this forum back up and running.  She has blessed us by posting her meditations daily.  Now, it is time for us to bless her, with our prayers and notes here.

I used to be very selfish, and self-absorbed, and always seeking for what people could do for me.  Yet, God changed me with the help of His Word, and my participation in AA.  Little things blessed me, like people calling to say they are thinking about me.  A friend from OH visiting me when I had my WLS.  Now, I try to bless those around me.  I keep a box of greeting cards handy, with various types of cards in it.  When I read my church's prayer chain, I learn of various illnesses and losses, and grab the appropriate card and put it in the mail.  I have been blessed by such cards, and pray for the families and ill as I write the cards out.

How can you bless someone today?  Be sure to pray for Karen as she undergoes her surgery.  Call a friend from church, and let them know they are in your prayers today.  Write Karen a note here, or PM her on OH.

Hugs,
Trish

Digging your car out reminds me of many years ago when my daughter was about 3 or 4. We lived in an apt. complex and the snow was as deep as she was tall. I went out with a dust pan to shovel out my little VW ( didn't own a shovel) I dug for what seemed like forever, finally got it unburied and went in the apt. to dress daughter and get her in the car. When I came back out a snow plow had come thru the parking lot and I had 5 feet of snow behing my little car! So after all my hard work I still couldn't get out so gave up and called my boss and told him I was literally snowed in. That was a rough day.

Greetings Sisters,
I am dreading the rest of this afternoon, at least the part where I have to dig out my car.  It snowed last night, and it's supposed to snow again tonight.  Yuck.  If the plow would just not dump the snow on my side of the street, it would not be an issue.

In addition to the fibro, I have herniated discs and bursitis in my hip.  I am awaiting a cortisone shot, and must wait another three months.  I was scheduled for one the week I got my blood clot, and can't get the shot till I wait six months from the clot, which was in October.  So, I must wait till the third week of April before I can get the shot, or start any of the pain management procedures to let this pain ease.

I seek healing from the Lord here on Earth, but if He chooses not to heal me, I will do as Paul said, in 2 Corinthians, and lean on the Lord's grace for my strength to endure.

Hugs,
Trish

I am taking a Psychology class and in the book it infers that Christians and others create God and other supernatural things to ease our terror about death. But as a Christian I would take Christ easing my fears about anything. He is amazing!

Karen,
I hope your surgery goes well. I will be praying for you. When you feel up to it let us know how you are doing.

Hi all first I want to let you know Trish has said she'll continue daily posts while I'm in the hospital, so thank you Trish! Please give her some feedback so she doesn't feel all alone here.

Sometimes the daily grind and aches and pains of life can get us down, I know they do me occasionally. Most of our difficulties are probably brought on by ourselves but some are health or physical issues. I know Trish and I both have Fibro and other body pain that some days makes us want to rip our hair out. No matter what our issues are there will come a day when we'll never have to deal with them again. When we get to Heaven with our Savior we will have the most wonderful eternity! Now don't go rushing to get there, but once the Lord calls you, you will spend the rest of eternity with no suffering whatsoever. That is a day I look forward to, our time here is short compared to the life we will spend there so hang on and your day will come! God bless! Karen

Topic: RE: American Idol(s)
Hi Karen,
I have to confess that I have had my share of idols, which distracted me from the Lord more often than not.  Some have been food, alcohol, and men.  Those were the big ones.  The minor ones include television, Internet, and other hobbies.  Bottom line is, I have neglected my daily devotions many times, due to being distracted by the television, or computer.

Karen,  could you PM me your snail address.  I would like to send you a card while you recuperate from your surgery.

Hugs,
Trish

Little play on words folks.  Today we are looking at idols, they don't have to be idols as in biblical days. We have idols these days too and while it is good to have people we look up to they have to take the proper place in our lives. If they are all consuming, they are taking the place of God. That is not good. If there is anyone or anything that is more important to you than God then that is a big problem. God has to be number 1 in our lives, He rightfully demands this from us. Sometimes this means to the exclusion of family and friends, which is indeed very difficult. However if they are taking us away from our life with God we have to make sure they are put in their proper place. This is one way satan lures us away from our Savior by teasing us with idols whether it be a person or a thing. Satan loves to steer us off track! So remember to give God the number one place in our lives and we can't go wrong!

I would appreciate prayer as I go in Thursday morning to get my enraged gall bladder out. The doc said I have a 4 centimeter stone which I guess is huge. He's going to try laprascopic but with the size of the stone he may have to do open. I'll just be glad to get it out! Thanks all and God bless! Karen
