Hi Joanna,
Welcome.  God is good, all the time.

I noticed you are from Michigan.  My daughter lives in Perry, outside of Lansing.

Small world.

Hi Karen,
I am praying that you get your surgery scheduled real soon.  You poor thing....have they given you something to ease the pain in the meantime?

As for the devotion:  In 12 Step recovery, I have heard the need for the addictive substance, or food, as having a "hole in my soul."  Food or alcohol does not fill that hole enough, so I try more and more.  Only Jesus fits in the hole, and fills it.  I must fill it daily with His Word, or I turn to the food again, or some other behavior.

Hugs,
Trish

Glad you found us. Boy you guys had easy pre-op diets. I had to do 30 days of skim milk 3x a day (as much as I could drink in 15 min.) AND I could have all the no calories drinks I wanted the rest of the day. I thought I did really well cause I only cheated 3x and that was by eating a piece of swiss cheese once a day for 3 days. Talk about testing your strength! Myself I started with chewable Centrum vits at first 2x a day. Later I switched to a generic multi and take 1x a day for the last few years. I guess it really boils down to what your surgeon says.

No not that vacuum the vacuum in your life, that emptiness. Have you noticed that when you try to change a bad habit that success is illusive. That's because it creates a vacuum that just gets filled with another habit, hopefully a good one but not neccesarily. Our lives can only change when we fill that vacuum with Jesus. When we accept Him as our saviour the holy spirit fills that vacuum so we can have more success in our everyday life. We may still have some bad habits but they are easier to deal with when we have the holy spirit filling in for us when we are able to surrender it to God.
I'm also asking for prayer that I can in for gall bladder surgery real soon. I have an appt. with my surgeon Mon. afternoon so I'm hoping I can get in next week. This has been going on way too long. I want that bad boy out! Thanks. God bless! Karen

Hi and Welcome,
First, you can always search for the Christianity Forum in the Search feature at the top of the page.  Once here, bookmark it in your Favorites, a feature at the top of your web browser.

As for vitamins, I take GNC's Women's Ultra Mega, it comes in a powder that can be mixed with water or juice.  I take the capsules, which now that I am four years out, I have no problem with.  I suppose the capsule dissolves in my pouch.

My surgeon only required a two day liquid diet.  It all depends on your surgeon's preferences.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Hugs,
Trish

I had no idea this forum was here. thank you so much for letting me know.

Today I go into my pre op appointment.  I have been reading that people start their liquid diet 10 and 14 days prior surgery. So yesterday I called.  they said we do two days.  I guess I will find out when I go in at 9:30 am.

I also took back my multi vitamin It was the pure vegtable kind and bought the wrong one. I have trader joes vitamin chewable.  can I ask what liquid or chewable vitamin everyone is using?

Blessings to everyone

ps:  how do i get back to this site. can someone give me instructions?

Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commands."  That verse struck me one day.  For a long time, I paid lip service to God.  I did not live by the power of the Holy Spirit, but instead, lived by the flesh.  My family suffered, and I was miserable.

Things are different now.  I seek to live in obedience to the Lord, and when being obedient becomes challenging, I acknowledge that I need the Lord's help.

Hugs,
Trish

Do you fear the Lord? Not in an I'm terrified of Him way, but do you give Him the respect He desires of us. Not because we are intimidated by Him but because of our love for Him. Think of what all He has done for us, He gave His son for our salvation. I am constantly in awe of what God has done for me because He loves me. Little ol' , unworthy, sinner, me! He came after me who so doesn't desereve it. This is what non Christians doen't understand, why we "want" to do our best to follow God's directions. It's not because we are afraid of getting struck with the proverbial lightening bolt but that we love Him and want to do what He wants us to do. So I challenge you all to take some time tonight and think about what an AWESOME God we serve. God bless, Karen
