I remember Ruth, how is she doing these days? I'm so glad you have someone like her in your life, she sounds like a very special person!

What a great topic.  You really made me think.  I have a history of addictions, including alcoholism, binge eating disorder, sex, and cutting.  My marriage ended because of my atrocious behavior, even though I did all of it as a believer.

I believe I have been called away from all of that horrid behavior and addictions.  I still struggle with some of it.  I will have one year of sobriety on Saturday.  I have been pure from the sex addiction for three years now.  I still struggle with sugar, but no longer binge.  The cutting has been problematic in recent months.

God brought some very special people in my life to help me with all of this.  My therapist, though not specifically Christian, has helped me understand my behavior, and learn coping skills to prevent it.  I have a dear friend, Ruth, who disciples me and has helped me learn new ways to view God's love for me.

Thanks for your faithfulness in getting this forum going again.

Praise the Lord and Congratulations on your surgery.  The best advice I can give you is to walk as much as you can...sip and walk.  Try to walk at least every four hours, even if it is just to pace your living room.  Walking helps speed your recovery.

I remember my surgery vividly, and know that the pain will subside.  Take your pain meds regulalry, and sip as much fluid as you can.  Believe me, in a few weeks, you will feel a ton better.  Rest, sip, walk.  That was my mantra.

Hugs and prayers are out for you.

Trish

Ready to start a new week full of fun? Today in Our Daily Bread it talked about being called from a position, usually we talk about being called to something, like me being called to post here. Have you ever been called from something, say to leave something behind? We've all been called away from our wordly lives, to a life with God when we surrender to our Savior. There used to be a time in my life when I was shall we say a hearty drinker. I don't know that I was an alcoholic but I surely did abuse alcohol on a regular basis, even after becoming a Christian. Then one day several years ago I just quit, it didn't do anything for me anymore. I think a big part of my drinking was that I was using it to dull the chronic pain I live with. I finally found a doc that would give me actual pain medication so I didn't need the booze anymore. So I guess in a way I was called away from the alcohol. Now that I have the appropriate medication I don't over use it, in fact I often forget to take it if I'm not in pain that day.

Let's go out there and plan to have a great week, maybe make a point of doing something nice for a stranger. Have a great day! God bless, Karen

Topic: Praying for Garbrielle Giffords and families in Tucson
I am deeply distressed about the shooting in Arizona, and the families that lost loved ones in the assassination attempt on Representative Gabrielle Giffords.  Regardless of the politics involved, we need to pray for her and the families and victims of this senseless shooting by an obviously disturbed individual.  Pray that the Lord heals them and this sick individual.

"Lord, we are a nation in need of You in so many ways.  We are saddened at the shooting and loss of life in Tucson this weekend.  People are injured,  People died.  People are in mourning and in need of Your loving touch today.  Father, we pray for these families, and for Representative Giffords.  I hear she will need possibly years of rehabilitiation.  Father, heal our country, and these individuals.  Father, move our nation to turn toward You for repentance, and salvation.  Father, I pray for all involved in this senseless shooting to turn to You for comfort, and salvation at this terrible time.  I pray You will wrap Your loving arms around each person effected by this terrible tragedy, and love them to healing, Lord.  I ask all of this in Your Precious Son's Name,  Amen."

When I was in Spain on a missions trip, we had a 24 hour ministry in the port, distributing the Jesus video and New Testaments to Moroccans heading to Morocco on the ferry across the Med.  We also had a 24 hour prayer room, where it was occupied at all times by one of the team.

One night, as I was leaving the port, I sprained my ankle and the next few days, instead of being sent to the port, I was sent to the prayer room for a 2 hour shift.  Talk about challenging.  I learned so much about prayer in that time, because I was praying nonstop for that time.  I learned to use prayer lists, and Operation World, and sang praise songs, which were on the CD player in the workroom outside the prayer room.  My shift was from 5:00 to 7:00 am.  I was not a morning person that summer, but became one for that trip.

Prayer is something I do not do enough.  I am so grateful that God hears all of our prayers, no matter when, or how they are prayed.

Hugs,
Trish

Well let's see how intelligent I sound after only 2 hrs. sleep last night. Sure wish I could figure out why I can't sleep, I'm not even worrying about anything, really annoying. Then again God is awake 24/7 so guess I can't complain. That's our topic today God has the eye that never sleeps and He will never slumber or sleep thru our interactions with Him. It just amazes me that He can give each of us His undivided attention even when we all talk at once. So it doesn't matter whether it's day or night we can go to Him at any hour and He is always there waiting for us! So drop by for a chat with Him, he's waiting!

It's so good to see the interactions starting here and I'm really enjoying throwing my 2 cents out there every day. So keep it rolling gals we all need each other. God bless, Karen

Topic: RE: What a difference in a year!
Hi Josie,
I have had years like that, and wondered what God was doing.  I am thrilled to share, and to see you share, that God is faithful, and He upholds us.  I have buried my Father, and both of my brothers.  Daddy died in 1977 at age 51.  My brothers were in 2006, and age 40, and 2008, at age 56.  Both brothers died of blood clots in the lung.

In October of this past year, I had trouble breathing and went to the ER, where I was diagnosed with a clot in my lung, and pneumonia.  Everyone in my family has, or had, a clotting disorder.  My sister had clots in her lung at one time.  She and I are both on Coumadin.

Enough about me...It's all about God, His unending love and grace, and His faithfulness.

Thank you for telling us about your family trials.  I am praying right now for your family to be able to lean on the Lord, and see His strength.

Hugs,
Trish
