This time of the year...when its cold and wet out, my weakness has to be indian tacos/fry bread!  Being Native American and visiting family during the winter months brings tons of home cooked beans of all types and tons and tons of fry bread!  I know when I take it Im gonna pay for it but its so hard to resist!

I have had a fight with the carbs lately myself. Every carb I tried doesn't bother me except broccoli. When we made chicken and broccoli the other day my dog even complained lol.

I have been getting better at it but I need to do more. my weight loss has slowed down alot to losing1-2 pounds a week. I will start doing better starting now.

"Look at a stone cutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it.  Yet at the hundred-and-first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not the last blow that did it, but all that had gone before."  ~Jacob A. Riis

My BIGGEST haunting is Dr. Pepper (regular, not diet).  I have tried every diet cola out there, including the diet Coke with lime -- but NOTHING measures up.  When I am stressed, I want a Dr. Pepper.  When I am relaxing at the end of the day, I want a Dr. Pepper.  When I am thirsty, I want a Dr. Pepper.  You see where I'm going with this?   hehe

So ... I'm low carbing now and a can of Dr. Pepper is 40 grams of carbs!!!  OUCH.  So .... what I do is allow myself one of those small (6 ounce) cans per day.  Sometimes I skip it (when I fall asleep early).  Some would tell me to get away from it completely and I have done that in the past .... but only for a few months and then the urge comes back with a vengence, so for now -- this is working.  I'm losing steadily again and I sooooooooooooooooooooo look forward to those 6 little ounces of Dr. Pepper at the end of my day!!  hehe

I think everything else that I crave -- there are substitutions for that I actually like (Dreamfields pasta for regular pasta, low carb breaks in place of white bread, sugar free chocolates, etc.  I even make my own garlic bread using my low carb bread and it is yummy!

I thought I would REALLY miss my doritoes, but I haven't had one in about 6 weeks and haven't really had a craving for chips and such.

I even get low carb (usually sugar free**** cream for those PMSing type of days.

Soft serve ice cream/frozen yogurt. It's KILLING me!

We have hit Dairy Queen or the frozen yogurt bar multiple times in the past few weeks. I want it so often that Jeff even asked me if I was pregnant!

*sigh* homemade or regular from the grocery store just isn't as good as that fabulous soft serve.
Dammit.

I need to somehow find more motivation/will power. *glances at the dusty Labyrinth DVD on the shelf in the corner*

I miss:

Potatoes - mashed or baked. I was never a fry person.
Bread - warm, fresh homemade bread with butter, crispy french bread with brie.
Rice - I miss mixing a little rice in my Chinese food.

I was in Manhattan today and everything was tempting me. All the bread stores had great specials for Valentine's Day. The pretzel vendors had some nice looking pretzels, and they looked so tempting and warm on a cold day. Funny thing is, I don't miss the sweet stuff. I don't miss donuts, cakes, etc. I really just want a potato with butter and sour cream, or warm bread with butter.

The one thing I allow myself every day is a tiny piece of dark chocolate. I am convinced it's good for my heart.

Carbs are so evil!  They really are.  I really don't mind potatoes.  I found that I still lose here and there when I keep my potatoes in moderation (i.e. a bag of chips a day, or a backed potato, hashbrowns, a few french fries) that type of thing.  However, I have been craving chocolate like a MOFO lately!  I think my body knows it's valentines day tomorrow..lol.  I've already had a pack of M&M's, a Reesee Cup, 7 Hershey Kisses and 2 Chocolate Rice Heart things.. GAH!  I have no clue how much I weigh, but I can totally tell you it's not 204 anymore..lol.  I'll try to cut back on the carbs here soon, they are not getting too out of hand yet though!

I like potatoes too.   I never used to have a problem avoiding carbs.   Now, my problem is stopping with just a bite or 2 if something tastes good to me, so I'm better off not tasting.

So what's causing me problems now is what I fix for my grand-daughter.   She's 11 months old, and she's definitely not into the baby food any more.   So I'm having to prepare food that she can eat and can appreciate.   The problem is, she loves noodles, mashed potatoes with gravy and rice and cinnamon toast.   Whole wheat toast with quite a bit of butter and some cinnamon sugar... definitely wayyy too delicious.   If I accidentally pop a bite of hers into my mouth when I'm cutting it up for her, or even lick my fingers if there's butter and cinnamon-sugar on them, then I find myself toasting up a piece for me!

Oh, and bananas.   She can't finish a banana, but she wants one at every meal, and I find myself finishing them for her.

So the day I discover I've gained 4# in one week and I'm definitely resolving to VERY low carb it to try to lose the last pounds, hubby chooses this day to bring muffins home for breakfast!   And buy a pizza for dinner.   Oh well, I may as well exercise my will power, huh?   I sense this is going to be a long, drawn-out battl for me.
