Partial small bowel obstruction?

Yes, I know I currently have an RNY, but...

I have been looking on Web MD, and looking on the search engine on here, and I am at a loss if I have a partial bowel obstruction or not.  Since early last week, I have had pain at nighttime (starting right below my breast bone).... NIGHTLY, when I lay down, sometimes waking me up out of a dead sleep.  I have to sit up, and breathe deep... then stand up, but not walk, cause I am in so much pain, I would probably fall down.  These episodes I have honestly chalked up to dumping syndrome, but on average I only truthfully dump once every 2-3 months (9 years out from RNY, but actively pursuing a revision to DS).  Yes, I have been passing gas, and have dirrhea when I go to the bathroom.
So, I have basically been waiting for it to resolve itself, but it has been over 10 days straight -- every night --, is it time to call my doc?

Yes. If I were you, I would call a doctor. Do you have a gallbladder? Even if you don't, it is possible to get sludge or stones in your bile duct. Or, it could be something going on with your pouch. I would definitely have it checked out.

Thank you, Kathleen!!!  I had my gallbladder removed in 2003, when I had my TT & hernia repair.  My doctor called me a surgeon's dream.... 3 surgeries in one!!!!

I will call the doc's office

Are you on some time of acid reducer? I don't know with a pouch if you need one. Maybe it is acid reflux??

No, I am not on an acid reducer.  I do have some esophageal erosion.  But that is it.

Thanks!!!

Jamie I forgot to add that I urge you to go see your doctor. It could be something very simple bt a BO  and /or pain is something that should  NOT be ignored. I hope that you are feeling better soon.

Jamie, have it checked out.  Partial bowel obstructions can happen to anyone.  My dad, who has never had abdominal surgery had a bowel obstruction.  Make sure they do a CT with contrast.

You also may have an ulcer in your blind stomach.  It could be a lot of things and abdominal pain should never be ignored.

Thank You, Michele!!!!

I did call the doc's office, and they are both at the hospital, so I will more than likely be going to urgent care or the ER.

I APPRECIATE all of the insight & advice!!
