If the savella worked for you talk to your pharmacist and see if the manufacturer has a plan for people who can't afford the regular price, many of them do. My mom was able to get a very expensive drug for her urinary problem for free because she was low income. It's worth checking out. Good luck!

HI,  I too have fibromyalgia and had WLS surgery back in 2001.  i know how you feel, the pain is incrediable and you can not really explain the pain to others because its not really in any one specific place.  My Dr has advised me that there is a corralation between fibromyalgia pain and vitamin D.  I know that we get a lot of our Vitamin D from the sub and can  also take supplements but if you are like me, you may not be absorping your vitamin D.  By  being low on VIt D you will have more pain.  My Dr put me on a really high vit d tablet and this helped with the pain, plus there is a drug called Savella, it is for Fibromyalgia and it works pretty good.   The unfortunate thing is that by losing weight it will not help with the pain from Fibromyalgia. Please make sure that  your Dr know that you have this issue and also the WLS so that they can properly eveluate  you.  Good Luck

Oh my, a 20 month old definately takes some energy, wish I had some better advice for you. I'm fortunate that I'm 60 and mine are all grown and giving me great grand kids! Most of them live far away so I don't have to tell them no about baby sitting because I really couldn't handle that. I do enjoy visits but couldn't manage a full time stay. I hope things get a little easier for you and do come here if for nothing else but to vent to folks who understand.

thanks for replying back i understand about being limited to what meds i can take i have chronic gastritis allready so i cant take alot of pain meds no ibprofin else i pay dearly for it. I know the wls wont help with my fibro pain but will it help me be able to be more active i am at 300 lbs and at 5ft 2 inches im huge and i know that dont help my ability to walk i have a 20 month old and i feel so bad i dont have the energy to play enough with him. and i have a 17 month old grandson and one on the way im only 38 but the pregnancy seemed to make me 100 worse. I was told i had ms. was even on shots for it now they say nope just fibro ya they think just fibro they say well its not as bad as ms but there not dealing with this every day feels bad to me thank you for taking the time to reply I tend to keep in a shell because so many doctors and x husband made me feel like i was crazy not in pain My new husband is great but i dont like to burden my family over my pain I guess the old feelings come back of feeling like im crazy loretta

Welcome! We all know your pain, unfortunately losing weight won't help the fibro. It will help joint pain from arthritis but sorry to say the fibro is here to stay. You can't kick it's butt at best you can make friends with it. You may have good days and then awful days but it truely never goes away. You will have to learn to take advantage of your better days and rest on your bad ones. Try to find a rheumatologist or pain specialist to treat you as they are more informed about treatment than a regular doc. Come here and vent anytime someone is usually around.

Hi I am glad you found this board . You will get understanding here as we know when you say your hurting just what you mean.
I am 64 have severe arthritis, 2 total knee replacements and one shoulder replaced. I have had fibro for years. I had gastric bypass Sept 26,2006. I started at 470 lbs went clear down to 315 and am now about 350. the fibro is no better with the wls. BUT I am glad that I had the surgery because I probably would have been way over 500 lbs with out it. I am struggling with grazing eating between meals now. So the surgery is not a sure thing alone. It is a tool and you still have to work hard..The surgery also limited me on what med's I can take for my arthritis.
Hope this helps,
Pam

hi I know its hard to think that your going to have to take meds everyday but you may want to start before it gets anyworse. I have been on them all and wish i found a doctor sooner who understood what i was going though no one understands this its so hard because every time you go in a diffrent part is hurting one day i can barley walk the next day i can barley move my arms. i had to quit working because i could barley walk any more its hard at 38 to think you can barley move sometimes and i feel people tend to think I am just faking it. Ya i lay in bed at not crying trying to be strong for my family and my baby son but its so hard. Im hoping losing weight helps but am really scared about wls my baby needs me
