exercising day 1
Well I made it back to the gym yesterday with the intention of walking for an hour.
after about 3/4 of a mile I decided to try running. Well I made it 1/4 mile and my shoulder started hurting again. It's not a debilitating pain, but I deffinitely know it's still messed up and is not liking the bouncing.
So I walked another 3/4 then tried running again. Same results.
Another 3/4 miles and decided to really try a run, so I kicked up the speed and managed to grind out 1/2 mile. It wasn't any more painful at the high speed, just kind of awkward trying to run and hold my left shoulder and arm immobile.
So it's promising, just a few days ago I couldn't have done that without some serious pain.
Tonight will be the bike trainer, I'm going to start working on some 10 minute hill repeats with 5 minute recovery between them. Hills are my big weakness. I just can't climb with those 150 pound mountain goats I ride with. I think I need to make them wear a backpack with 50 pounds of rocks in it to level out the playing field.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
Congrats on the improvement. Don't push your arm too far, but good that you are back in the gym!
Good luck on the bike!

You are a likeable cuss,...but be patient, you may well be shooting yourself in the,...shoulder?
I did this with my foot in HS football, broke it, came back in 4 weeks and broke it again. Played basketball on a walking cast while healing. I'm an idiot. All that movement and bouncing and wiggling the fracture whiile its trying to heal causes separation and rehealing, which lead to excessive calcium deposits around the healing break. I fear you are settng yourself up for long-term repercussions if you don't take better care. I would think it impossible to jog or run and keep your collarbone/shoulder immobilized.
Walking is good,..but be patient a bit longer and let it heal right so it doesn't bother you the rest of your life. From an idiot who still pays for not wanting to be considered a wimp. That suck it up, theres no bone sticking out mentally is not necessary, unless you are a pro athlete and this is your livelihood. Live to excell another day,...it won't be much longer and you'll appreciate the lack of bone spurs, muscle irritation and immflammation, and ability to predict oncoming atmospheric moisture later in life.

Just want to echo what Joe said...I know you're anxious to get back in the swing of things, but please, take it easy! Stick with walking and the bicycle. If your shoulder is hurting, it's trying to tell you something!
