Thanks..just signed up for my first half marathon walk and I got nervous. But I went to a running store and was fitted for my sneakers, so I guess I'm good.

14 pounds lost before surgery. My first ticker is when I hit onderland: this was my goal when I started on this journey.  I want to focus on that right now...once I get there I can reevaluate.

My second ticker is my dream goal. Even if I only visit there for a short time, it would be nice to see that number just once.  I am pretty sure I'll need plastics to hit this goal.

Jobsies.... YUP He is right!

Learn from my mistakes! basically NO training... wrong shoes- wrong socks!  also... morbidly obese at the time... yet I managed to do 9 miles!

Also... to start with I have horrendous feet.. thanks Mom.
I've had surgery on both feet... hammertoes & bunions.
Plus the reason I DIDn't lose my large toenail... was they had already been surgically removed due to repeated ingrown toenails...

(boy-- these feet don't sound like the person with them should even consider being a runner... )

anyway... my blisters were Soooo bad...
they were actually not your normal garden variety blisters.
they had become hemmoraghic blisters... very nasty.

Thankfully, at the B & B where we stayed another guest just happened to be a SURGEON!

He saw how much pain I was in and went and got his bag of goodies.
He plunked himself down on the dining room floor in front of me and medicated and wrapped my feet!!!

I owe him a BIG BIG THANKYOU! Can't even imagine how bad my feet could have gotten if I didn't receive that emergency care pronto!

So... here's what I have to say...

INVEST in the RIGHT SHOES!  don't go and buy the ones you like because the color grabs your attention... Go to a RUNNERs shoe store..
run on a treadmill and have them tell you what you need...
THEN LISTEN TO THEM!

Buy a couple of different types of wicking socks... test them.
See what works for you. I don't particularly like the low cut ones... to me they feel like they are going to slide under my heel.
BUT lots of people like them. I think I may have the problem because my heels are very narrow. but that's just a guess.

Get yourself some GLIDE... to prevent blisters, rashes, elimate rub problems... (wherever you my rub... ) good stuff.
lastly...

TRAIN... put in the time.... actual outdoor walking/running alternating... until you build to run.  That is the point where I am Walking/Running..
just a newbie at this... one very bad experience has taught me much!

oh yeah...

and have FUN!
